@stevenhall9009 Which was kind of a lame road for Robin to go down because Linda was offended. The ONLY way she could be offended is to have heard the show. Anytime you go down a road where you're trying to set parameters on when and how a person is entitled to an opinion its a losing battle.

Sadly, what led up to their argument is not, in fact, shown in this clip. The fact is that just 3 days after 23-yr-old groundbreaking Mexican-American idol and breakthrough singer **Selena** was shot and killed, Stern and Givers covered it on his show in the most ignorant, bigoted, soulless, and cruel way. And in this interview here, Givers unequivocally defended Stern, who, in the course of a 9-minute radio rant about the singer and "Spanish" music in general, had gone so far as to play Selena's songs **with gunshot sound effects** in the background. A disorderly conduct arrest warrant was even issued for Stern (though he was never charged). As a proud Mexican-American herself, Linda Ronstadt was rightly offended, and I applaud her bravery to go against the tide of the pro-Stern audience.

You can listen to his "humor", on Sirius, but please don't perpetuate what he now himself notes as "often sick" stereotypes for crass humourless abuse. Linda is strong woman who speaks truth, maybe Robin should try to catch up.

Had always been a huge fan of Howard Stern for years until his interview with Fran Drescher. He talked to her about being raped and couldn't have been anymore disrespectful and low class, absolutely horrible how he treated her. During the interview you could see her visibly become extremely upset and really quiet. You could tell she looked like she was being tortured by his words. Ronstadt's was upsep because just a few days after Tejano singer Selena was shot to death, Stern was playing her songs on his show with gunshots sounding off over the track and mocking her mourners - considering her whole family and crew in mourning and shock and over 60,000 fans coming to grieve for her, you can understand why anyone would take some offense. I'm not easily offended and have found Stern pretty humorous on occasion, but doing that with Selena's songs hot on the heels of her murder...just no words.

If I said half the things Stern has said. I would be fired from my job, and that's ok. It's not ok for me to offend people. It would be unprofessional. You obviously don’t understand the comment at all or taken it out of context completely. What he said was that he thought in his opinion that Tejano music has no soul. Also the fact that very few people outside of the regional Tejano music community had heard of Selena before she had died. I think that it was taken completely out of context, for which he apologized many times for it if anybody was offended by it. And Linda Ronstadt for as much as she claims she’s Mexican American couldn’t be further from that type of person if she tried.

It was taken out of context," or "Oh, he was just joking. Don't be so sensitive." Look at that audience and how they booed Linda for speaking the truth. They were getting their undies in a wad because she spoke out on how she felt and without insulting anyone. Even Jay had to tell the audience to be quiet because of their nasty behavior. @@bakerd99 give me a break. This was almost 30 years ago. She wasn’t speaking the truth because she didn’t listen to the show. Robin was 100% right. It’s not hypocrisy, it’s just the facts. She is just another person that spoke without having a clue to what she was speaking to. I would also say that Linda, while a fantastic singer in her day, would clearly not identify with the Mexican American community at all. Selena, for as great of a singer she was, was basically only known regionally in the Tejano community before she was killed. She became famous after she died thanks to her father, who used her death to become a very wealthy man. So there is the hypocrisy in the story.

Jay Leno is a no talent hack who screwed over Letterman and Conan to get and then reclaim his precious Tonight Show. The only reason people knew of Jay Leno in the first place was going on Letterman's show in the 80s 40 times and guest hosting for Carson. It is one thing to be a good standup comedian but another thing to be a good talk show host. Something where Leno absolutely sucked.

@@benbrislawn4029 - Johnny Carson expected Letterman to succeed him, but the great David Letterman handled it wrong, and the Tonight Show - that Letterman wanted all his life - slipped through his fingers. And you HAVE to remember that David Letterman at CBS - despite the sparkle and sizzle that CBS's money gave the show - consistently failed to beat Leno's show in the ratings.

1:32 Look at Robin's breathing. Her heart-rate must be at 170 BPM. She is SO easily tweaked and manipulated. I'm surprised she hasn't been involved in a murder by now. You can't even have a conversation with her without her interrupting EVERY TIME. Who would want to be married to that?

Linda was attacking her and the show she works for. You want her to sit their and take it?. Robin controlled herself well considering how this was sprung on her. She wasn't on the show for this. Unfair for Linda to spring this on her. How would she like it if the tables were turned?

@guy man First of all even Jay Leno said he appreciated Linda speaking her mind along with Robin too. Nothing wrong with that at all. So knock off with the idea that when you get on a talk show that you must stay in line with an unwritten format of only pushing niceties. When did Howard Stern ever say to his guests that you must do everything the way I want you too? It wouldn't work for him, his show or his listeners. The audience was more pro Robin/Howard than Linda no doubt and that's okay. I think it's when a celebrity who gets on a show and doesn't expect a rebuttal at one of their comments and feels that they won't be challenged, becomes a great disservice to the viewer. Haven't you ever been watching a show and would like to interject a comment on someone you disagree with at the time, and can't because you're not there, an really have no way of getting your viewpoint in? This happens all the time on talk T.V. including these talk shows. How many times does Jimmy Kimmel get by with smart ass remarks to politicians or people they don't like and you can't rebut? Don't you like it if someone who does comment reflects your wanna be comment and gets to sound off? Last thing! Humiliate? You've got to be kidding. Stern loves to do that to his guests and do many of these talk show hosts! Last but not least, Lighten Up!

He literally played Selena music with gunshot sounds behind it after she died saying he didn't like her music. An opinion is one thing but mocking the tragic death of an innocent person is so classless. Like, disrespectfully f**k that guy. Comedians are supposed to be funny but that's not funny. It's so fu**in disrespectful and sickening.
