My interest in Ronstadt's singing has been rekindled lately. I just watched one of here concert DVDs last night (Atlanta) as well as an earlier show from Germany. She can really belt out a tune with so much power and yet has the flexibility to sing warm and gently. She's a national treasure.

I am not sure how much of his speech was really by him, but it was an inspiration. Many may pooh-pooh him, but he will go down as one of our great presidents for his love of this country and doing everything he felt was best for it. I hope and am sure Ms. Ronstadt was appreciative for this award. To receive it from him was just icing on the cake. She IS a national treasure. I listen to her almost everyday and am so sad I never had the opportunity to witness her perform live. Thankfully there is recordings. I love both of these people so much. I've had a crush on Linda since I was a teen (b.1951), and Barack is the MOST HUMAN PRESIDENT I've ever seen or heard of, a true "man of the people" (huh: interestingly weird phrase that's never questioned as to what it might truly mean) because he is so wonderfully much a people himself and not just an obviously estranged politician; such a great example of someone who's not beat up by their background, well-educated, inspiringly perceptive, gentle, good-humored and humorous, generous, wonderfully considerate, , plus the most musically hip of any POTUS ever.
