One of the nice aspects of One Piece is that, eventually, almost all of your questions get answered. It may take hundreds of episodes/chapters, but answers are revealed eventually. It's definitely a series that rewards patience.

Water 7 is such a well paced arc.. I think Enies Lobby suffers from pacing issues perhaps at times but Water 7 itself is almost flawless imo.

Little tidbits were drip fed to us. For Robin, think back to what she called the crew. Captain, swordsman, cook, never called them by their real names. And for Usopp think back to when he made that face at Sanji and then while Luffy and him were fixing the ship he made the face again. Sanji and Luffy responded differently to him in those scenarios. Little things like that are sprinkled throughout the show

No mihawk doesnt use an air cannon. I think zoro loosely explains firing sword beams in skypeia. Its really just an accepted anime thing thats not dwelled upon too much 😅

Sanji broke his own back, wasnt Luffy's fault, happened due to the impact of hitting that hill during that avalanche. also wasnt a break, it was a spinal fissure.

You already saw how Mihawk presumably cuts ships in half in Skypiea, Zoro uses ranged slashing attacks too with 36 and 108 pound phoenix. Of course Zoro's attack is more of a piercing ranged attack, but the same principle applies with slashing ranged attacks. You just hit very very hard and it creates a shockwave that cuts through the air.

Yes, How MiHawk cut's ships in half is with like air after-waves from the sword, just like Franky's blasting a wider area with "Air Cannon" :) I think Zoro has started to use some of those "flying Slashes" also.
