I worked for Robin for two years and this interview is the closest thing to how I actually remember him being. Soft spoken, funny but not manic, smart and flirtatious in a playful way. He was very charming and will be very missed.

I really enjoy these old interviews by Paula Yates. She was very personable and perfect for 90s tv. Such a good vibe in all these interviews. Good times. So sad they're both gone now.

Maybe it's easy to say now, but you can see in Robin's behavior that he is depressed. Not comfortable with himself, constantly joking, the sadness in his eyes. It's a long and hard battle for some people. No flames flicker forever. RIP.

Possibly. He was manic. Suffered from a deep depression and battled alcohol and cocaine issues. He was an entertainer so there must have been extreme pressure on him to feel/be funny. It was his life.

I disagree, I think it’s just in his nature to be so witty. He may be joking a lot but his jokes are logical and funny.

This is beautiful as the artist I assist now knew him very well. She has told me he was a warm and charming man. He owns several of her paintings and now I can see why, he is just like her, she makes everyone around her happy and feel magical, she is a true artist, living here I have worked for alot of them and none like her, this just came up on my watch list for no reason. Now I must delve deeper, are there signs? I would hate for something to happen to her, she is secretive but for me I think it is the artist in her or?? now I am worried for this and for the coincidence that this came up because she has been working for days at a time without sleep. She doesn't drink or do any drugs and is young and healthy but I see her when she is thinking and it looks like she leaves this plane completely. Is that of concern? am I being paranoid because I do believe she is the only genius artist I have seen in the last 20 years

I found this quite sad. It appeared to me that Robin was trying too hard to make jokes. I loved him in his dramatic roles. Such a brilliant actor. As for Paula..... She can't help but throw herself at anyone. In this case "Feel me! I am hot aren't I? Pathetic!
@reesemorgan22594 жыл бұрын
Paula Yates was a talented, charismatic woman. She was also a chronic flirt. Some people just are. That's not the same as "throwing herself at anyone". The only time she appeared to be doing that was during the Michael Hutchence interview - when they had already been seeing each other for a while. She was employed to be risque and outrageous. She was a good, irreverent writer. I recommend her autobiography. I read lots of her stuff growing up in the 80s / 90s. It's such a shame she couldn't master her emotions and keep it together for her kids. That was her great weakness. Sad for all concerned.

@@reesemorgan2259 I read everywhere that Paula & Michael met the day of the interview but had planned to “get that boy” for a long time, while married to Geldof. In fact she said Michael asked her back to his hotel room and she said “nooooo i’m a married woman with babies” or some nonsense, but she was sure to make that public. Michael’s manager, the day of the interview, saw their chemistry together and asked Paula to stay away from him because all he was going through losing his senses of smell & taste and substance abuse. And she pointedly said “no, that boy is mine”. How did you know they were seeing each other for awhile, before that 1985 interview? I wouldn’t doubt it because it was so obvious they were very comfortable with each other. But I couldn’t find that information anywhere. Just curious about it. Thanx much!
@melaniedavies24193 жыл бұрын
@@jdsciano Actually Paula and Michael met at The Tube when she interviewed him in 1985 - also if you search for the KZbin video this is also when he asked her back to his hotel room. (Also look out for Bob Geldof standing next to him in this interview). The Big Breakfast interview was in 1994 - when Paula had had two more children with Bob.
@jdsciano3 жыл бұрын
@@melaniedavies2419 Thank you this is all that I thought was so i was very confused with that other post. But i will look for Bob Geldof standing next to him in the interview-that I did not know. I also did not realize Paula had 2 more children with her husband after she met MH. That’s why she she I have a baby (singular) at home and I am not going back to your hotel, because her 2 other babies with BG were yet to be born. Heartbreaking 💔 about Peaches BTW. High hopes for Tiger Lily who also is the spitting image of her father. Thanks for answering.

@@reesemorgan2259 Indeed. But there is an enormous double standard. Men can be serial flirts and seen as charming. Women who do it as branded "sluts".

I'd forgotten how basic his sense of humour was. Only about 20% of what he says is actually funny, but his trick is to just keep talking so the garbage gets forgotten about as fast as possible. He has to work so hard, coz of his high miss rate.
