+Lee The Flea I'm not surprised! He is one of the most refined acting talents this world has scene. If that was me or you we'd find it hard to contain our true emotions, but he has mastered not only the art of showing/hiding emotions but also the art of being a fantastic human being, by simply accepting the victory of another human as if it were his own! It's actually rather moving. At least that's how I see it!

A case can be made that Robin Williams was the single most beloved entertainer in the culture. I know it's a big statement, but from Mork to Movies to Talk Shows to Stand Up, from Drama to Comedy, he seemed to have an act for any kind of audience. That's why it hit so hard when he died. It was an unusual outpouring from millions of strangers who felt like they knew him.

@@Comictalent I was on my computer in the living room with my parents when one of my friends sent me a message asking if I knew about Robin dying. I immediately checked to make sure it was true while _praying with everything in me_ that it wasn't, but it obviously was. My heart broke. I just sat back and quietly said, "Oh my god." My parents: "What?" I looked up at them, still processing what I'd just read, "Robin Williams died." "WHAT??" And it went from there. All three of us were HUGE fans and had even been blessed to see him live once when he came through our area with his "Weapons of Self-Destruction" tour. I was born in '84 and basically grew up watching him. To this day he's still the one and only celebrity death that devastated me so much it legitimately made me cry.

This speech by Robin for winning his academy encapsulates the essence of this man. His passion for life, his love of people, his quit witted humor... and something else if you really look closer, the sadness in his eyes. No matter what character he played, funny or dramatic, deep down you can see it. I always felt there was something different, but realize now that it was a pain only depression can cause, and can surface at anytime, and devastate a life and lives, even in the case of a man who's in zest for living and seemingly very happy life seemed he could be immune to. That is depression, when even one of the top actors in the world, someone with every reason to live couldn't completely mask that pain. There is reason they use the old adage "the eyes are the windows to your soul". , Look closer into those windows of your loved ones, and keep special care of the ones who's might be dimming before it's to late. The only solace I find in this tragedy, is that Robin can finally thank his dad in person for receiving this award, and that the light that burned so brightly on earth, now takes it's place amongst the stars in the sky for all to see. The mad genie has came home, god bless you Robin, few people leave this place with the impact of how many lives you touched

Your post made me cry so much...You are so right,and I also wrote here just before I saw your post,that even though he was a great comedian,he always seemed so sad to me...Like on the surface he is all happy and cheery,but deep down he is so sad....That's how I've always seen him...And I always wanted to hug him,wherever I saw him crying in a movie,cause I felt like he really was unhappy....I hope he's in Heaven that looks like Heaven in " What dreams may come ".

Thank you for posting that.
@djmattese9 жыл бұрын
tatjana1707 Your welcome silkscrim, And Tatjana, your post did the same for me. You are so right, and said it so well. When he was happy in a movie, there always seemed to be something not right, like he smiled for his audience, but it just didn't seem completely genuine, like a plastic rose in a bouquet of ones that are alive. He did it for his audience, but he couldn't completely hide the fact that it was just an act. And in movies where sadness was just supposed to be a part of the role, it went beyond acting. The horrible tragedy that I realize now hurts me so much, is that those feelings he shared were genuine, real feelings. Go through his best movies, and tenderest moments, the ones that involved moments in life that we always thought "wow this guy makes it so real, it's almost like he really feels that way, what a great actor!!" Movies like Dead Poets Society, Awakenings, Patch Adams Good Will Hunting and....Aladdin. Look back now at that movie. In the scene at the end of the movie, when the Genie had done everything he could do for Aladdin and Jasmine and so many others, Aladdin said "Genie, you are free", which now are 4 of the most bittersweet words of all time. Aladdin held him for as long as he could, never wanting to let him go. And no one wanted the Genie to go, not because of what miracles and wonders he could create on a physical level, but because the Genie, a being of pure light and gentleness and love, could make anyone he touched feel special, whether king or beggar. A gift beyond wealth, or status, or anything physical, a gift treasured by the richest, and poorest people in the kingdom. Aladdin understood the bittersweet moment it was, because he realized that as much as the Genie, a being of pure kindness, warmth and love, would forever make the land a better place, and a being that had the magical ability to make anyone smile, and feel loved....could never be truly happy and at peace here. Happiness was in another place, a realm of mystery, but a land of hope, and the possibility that this magical creation, could finally find the happiness and peace we all crave and pray for. the place he could find the true happiness that he had been denied for so long. it was a line that was so heartwarming for the audience, because the Genie finally got the peace that he had waited for his whole life, and knew he finally found that eternal happiness that he wished for. Why is the loss of Robin, a celebrity like so many others that we have lost, in one moment uniting a divided world of such much intolerance and hate? Because of his remarkable soul, who despite his own personal demons, did everything in his power to make every human beings life here better. There were no favorites, he treated a CEO of a billion dollar company the same way as someone that had nothing. He realized that the only value we have, the only thing of real value, is the value of life, and the love that we all share. And the knowledge that he could talk to a regular fan on the street and that would make that person feel so special, or do things like give $400,000 a year to make sure that a life long friend, Christopher Reeve, would never have to worry about medical expenses, or support our troops for so many years, and so many other stories coming out now, of acts of kindness, whether of incredible financial help, or just of giving his time, or just the feeling of making anyone he ever met feel special, a kind smile that was genuine, that stayed with you for life, We realize we have lost our Genie. A pure, magnificent being, that we could always count on to make things better, and feel better about ourselves, and others. He gave us so much, even while he hid the pain that only someone that has suffered from severe depression can. But realize that he now has hopefully found the peace we all crave, and the happiness that comes with that peace. Anyone saying he was selfish, stop. This was one last way, that he could bring to light, the horrible affliction of depression, something that can't be x-ray'd, or figured out through a biopsy, or urine test. There now is a light shined on something that affects anyone, rich or poor, hell on earth, inside your head. He gave, and gave , and gave. He did everything he could to make this world a funnier, happier place. He was our Genie, and like Aladdin we have to let him go, so he can find that which will let him have the peace in his soul he was missing here. And hopefully, people will remember the acts of kindness, and the hope and love he gave us, and realize that the laughter and feelings of joy and hope can be had, we just have to be willing to take the time to give it back to each other, there is a little bit of Robin/Genie in all of us. We owe it to this great man, and to ourselves. Thank you again Tatjana, your empathy and compassion for Robin in your tender and compassionate words, and willingness to share that with everyone gave me something I will always remember, a shared kindness, and I feel hopeful. And to your last sentence, I know he is now basking in a land of wondrous colors, a template that only the Lord can create, a place that rewards only his most magnificent creations, and to his grieving wife and kids, please remember, he will be there waiting for you, that's what angels do, and who knows, he might just decide to bless us all again, and come back one day to share another lifetime of laughter, What Dreams May Come :)

That cry of joy he lets out when Billy Crystal comes to hug him. The sheer joy of a man spotting one of his closest friends on hand at a moment of exhilaration. It sounds almost like he forgot he was there, and he was surprised and overjoyed to see him. That touches me the most in this clip. :)

Still can't believe he is gone, he was such a legend, whitty, talented, intelligent not to mention a super humble guy, kind hearted, an all around great human being, this just brings me to tears, RIP to someone truly amazing in this world who gave us nothing but laughs in his comedies, brought us to tears in his dramatic roles and just shined when he needed to, a truly brilliant actor that can never be matched.

When i saw the film "Good Will Hunting", i felt a special connection with the performance of Robin Williams and all i have to say was absolutely emotional and fantastic. For me, Anthony Hopkins was inspiring, specially when he did that long speech with no interruption in "Amistad" that left me speechless that i have no option to show my respect. For me, Hopkins could have been worthy for the oscar, but Robin Williams was trully deserving with his performance. He is still missed, but his performance is still remembered.

Oh Robin… one of the first movies Ive seen you in that I remember when I was a tiny kid was Hook and you looked exactly like my dad. My dad means the world to me and it made me so emotional how similar you two looked. I started bawling watching the movie and my mom had to turn it off because after my parents divorce I didn’t see my dad that often but seeing Robin on tv was like I was with my dad or like it felt like he was at home with me. So whenever a movie would turn on and Robin Williams would appear I didn’t care what movie or what it was rated I wanted to watch it just for Robin. Not only he reminds me of my dad he’s such and amazing, gentle, funny, sweet, caring, amusing person who has so many talents and deserves to be known and loved by the whole world! Robin you truly are incredible and it breaks my heart how you couldn’t see how amazing you were. You were and still are loved by billions of people and we miss you endlessly! You are a king and an angel sent from heaven, but you find your way to heaven left many hearts shattered but many great memories! Thanks for making making me feel safe when I was a child, you were my dad on screen in a movie! I still watch your movies to this day and it breaks my heart knowing you aren’t here anymore but also makes my heart warm and happy just seeing your face on screen! Oh Robin, I will always have a special place for you in my heart. I love you deeply and hope you are doing better in heaven! A beautiful legend never forgotten. Thank you for making us all smile and laugh with your talent. Rest in peace Robin and fly high you beautiful angel! 💙
