Um, I'm pretty sure he does eat baby food in the scrapyard, Lewis gets it for him intending that if he needed it, he could probably use it in place of his nutrient paste. And then he shoots the jars for aiming calibration, so if you shoot the health to pick it up that's a double reference. Not to defend the gameplay one iota, though. Attack that instead of valid artistic choices.

Having recently beat Rogue City, I can say it's honestly pretty impressive how that game does its callbacks and references so well while this game does it so poorly. Also on the topic of Rogue City and baby food, there is an optional note you can find from a baby food company early on that offers to sponsor Robo in exchange for a lifetime supply of the stuff. It's the only reference to such in the game, though; all healing in Rogue City is done through using special OCP batteries to repair his systems, so it's easy to brush off the note as the company just hearing wrong.

Titus also developed Prehistorik and its sequel. Also, it wasn't Titus' fault that Superman 64 was bad, it was DC and Warner Bros.' fault. If you play the prototype of the game, you'll see that it is much better than the final. DC saw the game and forced them to completely remake it, resulting in the terrible game we know today.

This is one of the games we'd call "so bad it's good" in my neck of the web. It's janky enough that you need to relearn how to play it, but solid enough that once you learn to be one with the jank instead of fighting it, it's really fun, even if you wouldn't recommend it to other people without a fair warning that there's jank ahead. Like Megaman X7, except with less checkpoints and no BURN BURN BURN TO THE G--BURN TO THE BURN TO BURN BURN BURN TO THE GROUN--BURN.

The story behind the creation of this game could be really interesting because Titus other license game Superman 64 had a lot of interference with Warner Brothers and DC Comics which ended up with the game not even remotely matching what Titus wanted.
