Im gonna argue here, all of that FMV footage was pure GOLD, and the art design seems pretty awesome. Too bad the core gameplay doesnt stand up

Yeah only problem I see with it is the gameplay stuff like the restricted view and lack of map indicators. Any criticism of the in game FMV seems a bit mean when this came out the same year as Wing Commander which had a budget of $12m which was extreme at the time and was the sequel in a very popular game franchise. I'd be surprised if this had more than a couple of million all in for everything Game and FMV included.

Damn, I've never thought a game could be described as campy, not even Resident Evil. This actually seems like it would be enjoyable even if just for how weird and jank it is, like watching a b-horror movie. I'd look for a physical copy if they weren't so expensive, gotta emulate this some time.

Yup, we Canadians invented the disco ball, but the injury thing wasn't intentional. It was just supposed to be lights for parties, but lots of retinas were fried. Then, it escalated to physical injury. Sorry, eh? I guess it's a good thing though, since it's being used to stop an invasion.

Don't knock the "Axe of Science". Real life nuclear reactors had a dude with an axe whose job it was to stand by and cut a rope that would drop control rods if the control rod release mechanism failed to activate when something went wrong.

I am amazed at all the hate this game is getting. I bought it new back in the 90's and LOVED it. Granted I did have to play it with the in game camera set all the way back so I could see everything. However, the gameplay (for the time) was solid. The FMV clips were both cheezy and fun. I was never bored with it. My only gameplay issue was when I got stuck on the Washington DC level. Had to actually look in a game guide for what I was missing. Otherwise, no issues. My only real gripe is the ending. Looking back it was obviously set up for a sequel (which never happened). But at the time I DID have a WTF moment when the game ended. BTW: I still have this game in my collection.

The tonal issue seems to be a problem a LOT of those FMV games have. I don't know why but it feels like half of them have these super dark edgy stories, but the acting and scenarios in those FMVs is so over the top with the scenarios and situations, plus crap 'jokes' like this, and yeah.
