My dad was a cop and when I saw that scene it scared the living daylights out of me that the same would happen to my dad. I used to beg him not to go to work for about a month after I saw the film. It was a great film though! Think I was 9 when I first saw the film

What sells it for me after the "Dead or alive" line is the way Paul McCrane plays Emil's reaction. At first he's thinking "Those words sound familiar" but in a matter of seconds he remembers were he heard them and goes into a full on panic, thinking that Robocop is the ghost of Alex Murphy.

It's one of the reasons I say the 80's was America's renaissance. Because the amount of creativity that went into so many films of that era were nothing short of genius.
