What's even worse is that we know something those officers don't, and that's Murphy is still a man. All they were told was that he's a new fangled corporate product that only looks like a man and can replace them one day, all Dick Jones had to do was play the victim and tell them that he was under attack by a faulty machine over the phone.

Sometimes nothing else matters, except God and that a man can TANK, RESIST, WITHSTAND. It's a purpose itself. Killing is easy, withstanding is for the strong, like the strongest "Man" in the world did in the cross. This is a scene of heroism. Heroism is not fair, is not for justice nor for the glory of men. It's for love, to guard and protect. It's for life, not death. And we all know it inside ourselves. You know too.

As a kid, this was the hardest scene to watch, as violent as murphy’s death was, I expected something to happened for him to become Robocop But this scene was unexpected and tragic, at this point he was already in distress due to the fight with ED-209, and had to suffer another shooting by the people supposed to be his friends and colleagues. And of Course the cinematography and the music really accentuates the gravity of the scene

Lois before: “Murphy, it’s you” Lois after: “Murphy, it’s me, Lois” The first trigger besides his dream, to recovering his memory after the first firing squad. The second, after he had regained his sense of self after the second firing squad. I love how there are so many parallels like this - Lois gives Murphy a gun, he shoots a base guy who is thrown by the others. Lois gives Robocop his gun, he shoots a bad guy who is caught and dropped by one of the others.
@deadbugUK Жыл бұрын
This scene is a masterpiece in direction and story telling, let me explain... It completely parallels his human death in that Murphy faced a firing squad, helpless, barely clinging on to life, with Louis witnessing the while thing, unable to help through sheer fear and disbelief... Fast foward an hour to this scene, and Murphy faces ANOTHER firing squad, this time, its from friends and colleagues, but THIS time, thankfully, Louis braved it all, and she could finally 'save' murphy... Stunning cinematic direction, thought and execution! Bravo!

STEJTHEGREATEST Maybe, however, the police wouldn’t have access to that. Remember OCP Executives only had access to that. Hence why Dick Jones gave his to Clarence. Totally different times. It was a movie made for adults, yet children watched it and it was even marketed towards children, what with all the toys and merch that followed. Even a cartoon!! I had the ED-209 model toy that fired off caps haha! Can you imagine if film makers tried to do the same today?? It just wouldn't happen, there would be uproar if a violent film was marketed at children. Didn't do me any harm. Its about the upbringing, and I knew right from wrong, what was acceptable and what was not :) I look at my older brother today with his kids, and even though we watched a film like Robocop as very young children.......I couldn't imagine him allowing his kids to see it at their age!
@VinceHagenbeek3 жыл бұрын
First time I wanted to see it was when I was 10 when it came on TV, my dad wouldn't allow it at first because of all the violence (I was already familiar with RoboCop because of the 2 more child friendly TV cartoons). Eventually I saw the movie 2 years later at the age of 12 and I loved it!
