Even you really think about it, Robocop isn’t just a story about good vs evil, and revenge. It’s a bigger conflict of the soul of Detroit: corruption, vs those truly good few that still have hope that they can change the city and its people. There’s even some crooked cops and evil corporations in the movie. But more importantly, it’s the ghost of a man trying to find himself again. After being used, remade, and suffering a fate worse than death.

This movie has a heart. You don't need characters monologuing for 10 minutes to understand how much they care and feel about each other. Lewis is maybe the most pivotal character in the entire film, and she doesn't even has the most screentime. But her few words about Murphy weigh tons in the script. Body language and great writing made this movie very emotional and you could feel empathy for the good guys and absolute hatred for the villains. Very few movies can achieve what this one did.

Ita actually an interesting fact that a major goof in this scene made it into the finished film. Notice how the SWAT Commander says "Fire at Will!" When we known that Murphy's first name is Alex. Obviously this is from an earlier script where his name was Will Murphy, but they never changed it.
