We were supposed to get a scene similar in the original script for Robocop 3 by Frank Miller (that eventually became a comic called "The Last Stand") and showed his body exposed with bits of his bones and organs exposed underneath and I believe having a metal braced ribcage. It looked really horrific and probably would've been a sight to see in live action.

They didn’t really need to show it because it was told what was left of his body. Naturally a human would also be dead at this point. I have watched the original RoboCop a few times, was always fascinated how the way they murdered him was so brutal and still made it into a movie. But I am no fan of the whole cyborg thing. And the ones that propagate becoming cyborgs know exactly what it does to the soul. It is always shown in movies, but in advertisement oriented products it is always presented as "evolution", "fun" and "pioneering". They have yet to show me any being of nature that evolved by becoming half a machine.

@@BobPantsSpongeSquare97 I just watched the original today and its total bullshit. They blow off his hand, his arm, they shoot through his chest multiple times and in the end Cain shots him in the head. Now, granted it wasn't a perfect centered shot, but he still shots him in his head, than he dies when they try to save him. There is no way in hell you could have saved his brain, put in a robot and it would work. The most important organ of a human is the brain, if the brain dies because it gets a pistol shot there is no way to save the brain or the body. Now if they removed his brain while he was still alive than I would have let it pass but they should have removed the headshot scene too. Its even more dumb that guns in that movie usually tear you apart (even tho they are modern day guns but they are supposed to be more future ones) and when Murphy got shot in the head his brain and head didn't just explode. Also, how a bunch of criminals are winning against the police when the Gov and the OCP litterally has the tech to create cyborgs and laser cannons? The police is far more trained and well equipped than the criminals. I find intresting how Skynet is losing a war against the humans in the Terminator saga too, they litterally use a Time machine to kill younger versions of the future important soldier of the Human resistence when Skynet shouldn't have any problem wiping the humans out. Hell if they can create time machines, cyborgs and laser guns how the hell are they losing the war? Not to mention at the end of Terminator 3 Skynet also launches Atom bombs...

Murphy's slow and torturous death in the original or the reveal scene in the reboot where Murphy is devastated to see what has happened to him and that he is now literally a piece of living flesh, NOT even a full Cyborg, in a robotic body. Dude literally has 4 things remaining from his original body, his head, his throat, lungs and his hand. @@jon2813 not very well. Like, the amount of air going out (based on the lung contraction) does not correspond with the dialogue being spoken. It seems that his lungs are contracting a lot more than the speaking would suggest. A person can say very long sentences on a full lungful (pair) yet his short sentences are causing the full contraction of his lungs. Also, he appears to be fully inhaling before each sentence. Most times, at rest, a person's lungs are sitting about partway inflated and during breathing, they only cycle between slightly elevated and relaxed levels of breathing. People don't fully inhale or fully exhale unless they are sighing or yawning or about to shout or are performing wim hof breathing exercises. If you tried breathing the way that the CGI lungs were doing so, you would find yourself with slightly numb teeth. Also, consider that the total amount of organic matter in his body has been removed. He still has both fully functioning lungs capable of supplying enough oxygen for a fully grown man, now devoted to supplying that much oxygen for his remaining tissues. He would have to REDUCE the amount of idle breathing to avoid hyperventilation.

I need to watch it again, but I remember it being an interesting, though different, take on the story. The original is my favorite movie of all time, and while the satirical elements tend to get the most praise, I still think the more human side of the story is quite compelling. I like that the remake went with those aspects since they are more relevant for modern times. This scene, the scene with him running away through the rice paddies, and his visit with his family at home are the ones that stick out most in my mind.

@@timbsm To be honest, I just could not see the point of this remake. The very same is true for the remake of 'Total Recall' by the way. That last fact alone made this movie too tame and boring. I _really_ hope the people responsible for this dumpster fire never get movies like 'Starship Troopers' or 'Predator' into their greedy little hands. Don't get me wrong, I actually liked Joel Kinnaman's performance a lot, it's just that he could not save this mess.

I definitely think as its own standalone movie the Robocop reboot is actually good. But it seems worse because it is living up to the reputation of the original Robocop. I don't think it's a cinematic masterpiece by any means, I think it's like... just good...

I didn't like it. It makes no sense in the story to subject him to such horror potentially damaging his mental health. In the original movie, OCP tries to erase his memory and hide the fact that he was human once, but his humanity slowly creeps in and he realizes what they have done to him. To me that's much more powerful and horrifying. In the remake it looks like they do it just for the shock value. "Hey Murphy, wanna see something cool? You're just a talking head LOL!!!" Give me a break.

@@hullie7529 I think his wife was too selfish. She just wanted fame and popularity 😪 Alex would be better off dead. Than living a fate worse than death. I feel bad for Murphy.

As great as this scene is, it's also the reason why this movie doesn't work; Murphy doesn't die. His personality, body and memories aren't erased, leaving us without a movie about a war machine discovering it was man, but with a movie about a disabled man learning to accept his fate.
@fistbumpstudioz45487 жыл бұрын
+Sebastián Gómez Letelier Have you seen the movie? They wipe Murphy's personality and the film becomes what you say it lacked
@sebastiangomezletelier13677 жыл бұрын
Losing Murphy's personality is a late plot point added to increase drama and tension towards the climax in the 2014 film. The 80's robocop is far more brutal and sad by having the titular machina slowly discovering that it was a man with a family
@manlystan1007 жыл бұрын
@d.h No it's not! He's not convincing at all. The acting took me completely out of the movie. He's far to composed for someone who only has entrails of their body left. People who lose o lay their limbs break down in hysterical crying, I can't even imagine what this would be like.

they were selling something.. they wanted to make him more friendly and therefore more appealing to the public. they couldn't deploy the combat drones state side because the public felt threatened by their appearance. they needed a product that was just as effective but friendlier and a human face certainly helped and a hand would to for handshakes and shit..

this is probably the scene that makes this film worthwhile for me. the concept of deciding just how much is required to constitute being a "human," let alone yourself, is extremely heavy.
