Some robot manufacturers (including Roborock) hide an easter egg mode where their robot will play fight music and "attack" other robots they detect. Once they updated it for valentines day so it would bump into them with a loud kissing sound effect instead 😂. Maybe we'll see arm wrestling one day lol

300 gram is approximately 2/3 of a pound, Not 1/3 of a pound as mentioned in the video. It's actually quite a lot of weight considering how fragile it looked in the video. 300 gram means it might be able to lift your running shoes, slippers and most dog/cat toys laying around.

@vacuumnerds16 күн бұрын
No word on the dust bin size but if the robot can finish a couple of rooms before heading back to the base station it will be competitive
@feuby848016 күн бұрын
@tjhf96 honnestly as it has an auto empty station it doesn't really matter. At this level of things, it can resume vacuuming, so it just empty it, and resume where it was, no issue. It may cause a slight delay in overall vacuuming time, but to quote technology connexions on dishwashers : you know what I'm not doing while it's vacuuming ? Yes that's right, vacuuming. So except if it's noisy (which they may be tbh), the overall time of vaccuming is not really an issue.

@@Smedsters If you want 100% accuracy you will be waiting for a decade or longer imho. I'm fairly sure it could be done now, but the cost would likely enormous. The accuracy is improving every lifecycle though, so I expect it will be close to 100% within a couple years. These are the interesting cost/benefit challenges that all the manufacturers are currently investing a lot of development $ into.

There was one manufacturer who had some kind of demo unit last year, but it never got released. I think a fundamental problem is that these robots are about 16-20" wide. That's much wider than a typical step, so without some incredibly complicated mechanism, they are going to fall off.

@alextheonewarrior So if I have a small coffee table in the middle of the living room, and there's a cat toy or a sock under it, does that mean the robot can't pick it up anymore? It can fit under the table, but it can no longer extend its robotic arm.

I think it will be interesting to see if this robot arm era turns out to be just a trend, or something that becomes more common on high end robots.
@johnnyfeltz16 күн бұрын
This feels so unnecessary, like its actively encouraging laziness. Having a robot vacuum already saves you a bunch of time cleaning your floors, so surely you can spare a little time to pick up your own damn socks and cables. I have owned multiple robot vacuums for around 8 years now, I love them, they save me so much work and keep my house pristine. One of the things I appreciate about them is that they encourage me to be tidy and put things away rather than leaving them laying around on the floor, which leads to a tidy house and a tidy mind.
@vacuumnerds10 күн бұрын
The idea behind a robot vacuum is to reduce work. This just takes it another step further imho. If you don't want to be lazy a corded vac will clean better than any roobt right now.
