Razer... I love you. 😁 Love Big Nipper as well. Nobody really talks about how they damaged Razer's wing. The team are very good. Shame they never really made it quite a ways in the series they performed in.

Interesting episode. The Widow's Revenge thing was cringy, but played out with enough humor that it wasn't nearly as bad as the Thermidor vs Naplam 'vengeance fight' . Razer had an easy field to play against but it was nice to see them functioning correctly and actually obeying the 30 second pin rule. I like Razer's design and power, but the way they sometimes never let their opponent off of the wedge always seemed unfair to me.

I’m shocked it’s been four years and nobody’s mentioned JP opening a fight replay with “I’ll eat Shunt piece by piece if Suicidal Tendencies doesn’t get this decision.” I think about it randomly every couple of months and I think it might be my favorite on the whole show, ESPECIALLY considering the context of the rest of the episode (Razer stomping everyone and ST being the only other competent machine, only to drop out)

Jonathan had the widows completely wrong. Gillie Blood was Vincent Blood's SISTER, not his partner. She was Ian Lewis' girlfriend and the only one to genuinely be an other half of someone from Team Razer.

Hmm, Razer is the only one I'd rate in this, if it doesn't break down. Big Nipper looked to be the best other bot in the heat, quite fast and solid, if it hadn't run straight into Razer... Widows Revenge vs Sump Thing was so cut short in the editing it's hard to say who did most. Axe C Dent's biggest achievement was to take Shunt into the pit with it, leaving Destruct-a-bubble as the most unlikely 'winner' yet. Suicidal Tendencies - now a Razer knock off, but less powerful - fairly easy defeat of Rick. Razer vs Widows Revenge - was there any doubt about that? Most interesting bit was where Razer drove itself into the pit - if Widows Revenge hadn't already been counted out, who would have won then? Widows Revenge was over the pit first but Razer was in it. Pity Suicidal Tendencies had to pull out, would have been interesting to see them confront Razer. What the hell was Shunt doing attacking Destruct-a-bubble for no legal reason? Not that Rick needed any assistance because the bubble promptly broke down. Razer vs Rick - also predictable, biggest interest was the bonus bit where Razer had a go at Killalot.

Ahhh series 5, where 2nd level teams took a break from being chaos 2 clones for a short time in order to become razer clones instead. Mind you s.t. Never really did anything of interest in its time aside from having its tracks removed by biohazard (!) so it's no suprise to see them take another misstep here I have a soft spot for this heat. yeah it's a demonstration run for razer but that damn bot is so good to look at and creates such damage that it's a good watch, the way people go to watch the red arrows or other air shows. you know what will happen but it's damn spectacular all the same. Plus Eric and big nipper get some good crumpling beak action and widows revenge gets the biggest trashing since s3's heat so it's all good fun! 😂

Eh. The only bot that was significantly damaged by Razer was the POS cannonfodder that was Widow's revenge, which was basically specifically built to be destroyed by Razer. The extent of the damage to Rick and Big Nipper were a few holes what resulted in some unseen internal component being damaged and the bot conking out. Hardly a spectacle.

Dude you just have an irrational hatred of Razer tbh, which is fine, who knows why we end up liking/disliking a robot? For my social circle at school at the time, Razer became as much a part of Robot Wars as the Daleks did for Doctor Who, from the second it appeared in S2 it captured everyone's imaginations with its design and when it actually caused damage to The Inquisitor, it was forever cemented as the bot to watch. There was a reason it was brought out of retirement when the show came back, it was a RW icon that only really hypnodisc could match. And yeah, seeing a robot smashed up like Widows Revenge is hella fun, particularly without the guilt of "damn they've worked hard on that robot" Nice to see the House Robots get a demonstration run occasionally (See also: Major Tom in Extreme 2)

Gotta disagree with you (as per usual :P) though. Destruction alone does not make a fight good or interesting. If that was all that mattered you might as well watch robots smash up kitchen appliances that can't fight back. What makes robot wars interesting is tension, which Razer just could not provide with it's boring strategy.

@@TheRoboteer Thoroughly agree with you. Razer is rather horrible (and horribly effective) but certainly not spectacular in the way that Hypno-disc, Carbide or a good flipper are. But as someone said, Ian Lewis and the Razer team are a lot less obnoxious (or maybe more relaxed) in this series than previous ones.

The Heat K final should of been Razer against Suicidal Tendencies, but because of mechanical/motor problems they had, they conked out. Rick only won 1 battle in the 5th wars because they were reinstated due to Suicidal Tendencies mechanical/motor problems. I felt so bad for Suicidal Tendencies. They would of Fight Razer in the Heat K final, not Rick.

Ah Heat K. Probably one of my least favourite out of all of the heats of the fifth wars. The lineup was so stacked in Razer's favour, and the manufactured drama of Widow's revenge was pretty lame. Big Nipper makes its first appearance on the scene. Possibly the only noteworthy bot in this heat other than Razer and Suicidal Tendencies. For a distinctly box-shaped robot it put up a pretty decent fight against Razer. That initial charge buckling the Razer srimech had to have the Razer team worried. By this point though the Razer team have perfected their thrilling tactic of "Grab hold of them and never let go", so once Razer got that first bite down it was all over from then on really. Has to be said though that Ian Lewis seems to have massively decreased in twattiness now that he actually has a match-winning robot. He was pretty complimentary of the Big Nipper guys in that post-match interview, so at least something good came out of Razer's rise to power. Weird abrupt cut there to the Sumpthing v Widow's revenge fight. Let's be honest, we all knew how this was gonna end before it even began. The Widow's Revenge team are literally only there for the Razer 'drama', and Sumpthing just isn't capable of scoring a knockout on them, and isn't reliable enough to last to a judges decision, which puts WR through to keep the drama train going. This is barely even a Series 3 calibre fight to be completely honest. Sumpthing died from hitting the pit release and Widow's revenge could barely move in the first place. Not much to say really. Destruct-a-Bubble and Axe-C-Dent. Two awkward names and a bloody awkward fight too. Jonathan's commentary is just about the only thing that makes this fight bearable. Yet another bot in this heat that just dies of its own accord, and the Bubble somehow slips through to the second round. Such is the calibre of the bots in this heat. I quite like Rick. I have a soft spot for robots with ridiculously boring names like Rick, and the bot itself seems decently thought out. Nice and compact and the flipper was decent, if not Chaos 2 levels of power. Against Suicidal Tendencies though it's just outclassed. Not mobile enough to evade what is probably the best tracked robot in the wars with the dismissal of Mortis. Suicidal Tendencies' crusher is no razer, but it's more than enough to dismiss Rick, and the lifting scoop was pretty novel too. Credit to Rick for keeping working though. Perhaps the only halfway decent fight of the episode here. Oh boy here's "the fight we've all been waiting for" (It was physically hard to write that). Basically just an excuse to show Razer's strength here. Over in a trice as anyone would expect. Call me a cynic but this is just painful to watch. And whaddya know, just about the only robot that could have posed even a modicum of a threat to Razer is forced to withdraw. This one is yet another walkover really. The Bubble would probably had a better chance against ST with its bizarre shape which would make it difficult for ST to grab on to, but against a semi-competent flipper like Rick it hasn't a hope in hell. 1 flip was all it took. I'm getting flashbacks to series 9 with all these 1 hit knockouts. And this is what it comes to. A robot that lost in round 1, against a the reigning world champion. Gee, I wonder how this can go. I honestly have nothing to say here. We all knew what was gonna happen. This heat was honestly even worse than I remember it being. A plethora of 1 hit knockouts, and the vast majority of fights were forgone conclusions.

TheRoboteer personally Heat G bugs me more for the breakdown train Spawn Again winning through, although admittedly the robots in this heat are mostly weak and the producers have a thing for cringey battle of the sexes stuff between this episode and the Thermidor vs Napalm vengeance battle.

Yeah, how people call Storm and Tornado boring yet praise Razer's thrilling tactics I'll never know. I like Razer to a certain extent but the way people defend it while insulting everything else that ever opposed it annoys the hell out of me.

I wouldn't call either one boring but I must say I enjoy razors destructive capabilities a lot more. That pinch and grab is just so satisfying, especially if they put them over the fire

I can understand why you hate razer so much but here's the thing engineers like the razer team Simon Scott, Ian Lewis and Vincent blood including hypno-disc and chaos 2 theses type of engineers actually care about destruction because that is what robot wars is originally about destruction besides most engineers back in those days only cared about being on the show just for the fun of it which got a bit boring from time to time robots like razer as an example is one of the most powerful and good looking machines in the history of robot wars it is the icon of robot wars and that is something you can't take way from a famous team and a famous robot no matter how much you hate them with out hypo- disc, chaos 2 or razer I highly doubt robot wars would be as popular as it was back then so just think before you judge others
