this ECU is like a 1980s feedback carburetor system. the gross engine control is still manual but the fine tuning and some emissions over-riding is ECU managed. Very impressive. ❤ (especially if it is more reliable than 1980s emissions equipment 😂)

The cool part of it being electronically tuned is that you can record all adjustments and review them later instead of having to remember what you did and write it down. Plus it is more real time to us because the changes are instant, we don't have to wait for you to get back to the house to retest over and over. I'm liking the electronics episodes.

Hello Jimbo; with regard to the viewer analytics, I think you're right. I'm a "nuts and bolts" guy and I confess that I find these software episodes far harder to understand than the mechanical ones - but then, they're commensurately more rewarding, too! I would never have guessed how deeply satisfied I could be by watching the footage of the car accelerating so cleanly, smug in the knowledge that I appreciate all the resourcefulness and work that went into your achievement! Those guys who bailed because they were confused will miss out on that. And, yeah, I suppose it is summer.

Mentioned on a tuner forum I use - "the more you know about electronic fuel injection, the less it costs". 🙂 I have some micro-controller based projects in mind myself and have been learning to code in sketch and C, all of it is new to me, so seeing it used in real world examples is right in my wheel house at the moment. Being able to follow what you're doing is gold, and you are welcome to just keep bringing it. Those who didn't find it interesting before may grow an interest...once they see how it can be used. I’ve been thinking about why this channel “works for me”. - First of all its simply entertaining. - Your channel combines several of my younger self passions (being a motor head, electronics, computers, and just making stuff to see if I could do it). - You explain difficult subjects with clear to understand “Midwestern dialect”. (I was really wondering how you were going to pull off explaining interrupt processing, but you did it well.) - The pictograms and simple explanation help us to visualize new concepts. Not everyone has a mech-e or computer science background. So pictures help greatly. - Your approach to the channel is much like just a couple of guys hanging out in the garage trying out different ideas, some work and some not so much. If everything worked the first time, what would we have learned? As for channel statistics, while you need to keep an eye on them for the health of the channel, I wouldn’t focus on them too much. Make what you enjoy and they will come. (edit: I tried to make a weak field of dreams reference, but I just looked it up and that was Iowa not Kansas. If it worked the first time, what did I just learn?)

KZbin provides excellent channel statistics, I keep an eye on my numbers because at 150K subscribers I should be generating a certain amount of revenue. I try different types of videos to see which one brings in the most revenue. Keep in mind this channel dosn't generate a lot of revenue to begin with.. Sadly the tech stuff has cut my already tiny revenue stream in half.
@georgehooper429
@georgehooper429 16 күн бұрын
@@robotcantina8957 But as you mentioned in your video is it the time of year more so than the content? The first two weeks of june kids are getting out of school and parents go on vacation. I guess as a bellwether you could switch over to more traditional videos like with the Predator or the Renault and see if its time of year or the content. Also I've wondered, do you have alternate sources for channel support like Patreon or Buy me a coffee? With the amount of ABS filament you go through I can see the need for that revenue stream too.

I enjoy both the building and tweaking processes of the project. You get to engineer your own ECU. With MANY ECU based cars having dying ECU's based on dead capacitors and such, perhaps this can inspire the next home engineer. From what I derive, this Kubota motor was really made to run 1 speed... and you've changed all of that.

As a slightly older tech person getting insight into how the fuel management works is fantastic. Can realise how my modern diesel works. Or the actions the ecu has to do.

Happy father’s day! I’m not on vacation and even if I was I’d still be watching anyways. Then again I’m a homebody that likes to sit in the garage with the dog watching KZbin while the kids and wife raise hell in the house. 😂

Wow, I didn't expect this much result so quickly, with a relatively simple program! Good work Jimbo and I love the electronics and software experimentation just as much as the mechanical part, so please don't stop doing it! Also, enjoy your vacation, you deserve it!

I actually love the idea of a little screen that gives you readouts of what the computer is doing while you drive. I wish normal cars had that so you could "learn your car's language" so to speak. It could even help troubleshoot problems on the fly while they appear.
