Hello What wood are you using?to form the arc?

It's just 12mm far Eastern ply with tile battern cleats.

What type of line mortar is that Rob? I’m using hydraulic lime nhl 3.5 mixed at 4building, 1/2 grit and 1 lime (not my choice) and it’s really dead. Yours looks well creamy
@robsonger16 ай бұрын
yes, this is 3.5 as well. The key could be, we mix ours the day before then remix it quickly the next day. Wet up your left over mortar at the end of the day and re-use it the following day, you'll find its better the second time around.
@craigstyrin34536 ай бұрын
@@robsonger1 yeah I’ve found that it’s better when it’s left over night, we leave one in the mixer but we use loads as we are building a garage🤪👍 thank you for replying Rob
@DaveBloke-tg5wv6 ай бұрын
@@craigstyrin3453 It's recommended to leave it a minimum of twenty minutes or more then remix it, it gives the lime time to do it's thing. You get a nice creamy mix then, you might need to add some more water to the mix on the second go, you'll tell the difference.

Nice work Rob, I just can't understand why the client didn't have you take down and rebuild the gable. But we just do what they want I suppose
@sparkiegaz36136 ай бұрын
I’m assuming the rest of the gable was ok or you taken the lot of it down,,great work again , hopefully your passing your skills on to others..👍
@robsonger16 ай бұрын
the rest of the gable has been strengthened in a few others ways such as the new blockwork on the inner skin, purlins into the gable and stainless steel straps from the rafters.

Rob , far too complicated . You can't run a straight edge over an arch it must be dragging somewhere .
