Can you just IMAGINE growing up listening to this and all of the other music you've reacted to? Most of us here HAVE... We are blessed with growing up in the most experimental and amazing times for music.

Pivotal time for music. As, Robert Plant has said, "during that time there was no textbook". Bands just went for it, like you said, it was experimental, the most important time for music. I think musicians took their craft seriously - some may today, but not to the degree they did then. Now, imo, what the hell went wrong???? There are some great bands out there now, but you have to look. Soooo glad I grew up then - you are right we are blessed to have grown up during those times.✌❤

My name is Angie. I have always loved this song. I have an uncle who plays acoustic guitar and sings. He has sung this to me since I was a little girl. It brings back sweet memories for me. He sang it to me at one of our family reunions about 8 years ago when I was 45. It transported me right back to 9 years old again.

So excited you're doing Angie!!! My fav Stones song. When I was in middle school (I am now 61) my older, VERY cool cousin used to drop me off at school on her way to work every day. One day this song came on the radio. I asked how in the world did anyone like this song, and declared that the singer could NOT sing. LOL. She laughed and then proceeded to explain music to me. She taught me to appreciate the unique and different, to find the beauty in imperfection. She taught me to love Mick Jagger, and subsequently many other "unique" voices. She died of a brain tumor very young and I miss her every day. This song is always for her when I hear it. I owe her so much. Side note to end with a happy thought.... my youngest son came to me one day and said "MOM did you know that Mick Jagger's first name is Mick??!! How crazy is that???" I said, "Daniel, I don't understand.. . of course Mick Jagger's name is Mick... what are you talking about?" He said, "All this time, I thought people were saying McJagger, and I thought Mick McJagger was a funny name.'" LOL. Love to you and your darling little family. Keep on keeping on.

In Keith’s book, he describes their song writing process. It’s usually Keith comes up with the riff, he gives it to Mick who adds the lyrics and the it goes back to Keith who rounds out the instrumentation. Some of the songs, they write on their own. While I usually associated Keith with the rocking songs and Mick with the ballads, Keith revealed two surprises. Start Me Up, which has one of their most iconic riffs, was entirely written by Mick. And Angie, which I always assumed was penned by Mick, was 100% Keith.

If you want to go way different, try Emotional Rescue. I can already imagine Jay getting into the funky bass and Amber falling in love with the vocals.

Released in October 1973, this was their 7th Number 1 US hit. Keith wrote the majority of this music and lyrics while in detox in Switzerland some saying it was his unborn daughter. David Bowie's wife Angie started a rumor she had caught Mick and David in bed together. Then this was supposed to be Mick's make up song to her. Who knows ? A rare ballad from Goatshead Soup, this was so beautiful with violins 🎻, beautiful piano and very appealing lyrics, it was an instant hit. Very different from their usual hard, aggressive rock and roll style. Great reaction. Buckets of Maple Syrup love from Canada ❤️❤️ 🇨🇦 🇨🇦

A variant of this story (Mick and David found nude in bed together!) was reported in Time magazine in 1973, in an article on the rise of "glam rock." And everyone in high school was going, "Yeah, Angie Bowie!" The piano is the amazing Nicky Hopkins. Great record.

She included the story in her book as well. But now reading that Keith wrote the lyrics makes me wonder if Keith was actually in love with her?! Ah, the 70's when beds rotated almost as much as the people in them. LOL

My guitar teacher had already gone to California, and me only about 9 had to self teach on guitar from then on, I had 1 song under my belt, had just found some of the chords to Love to Change the World- Ten Years After, but could not go any further in life without learning this song. Took me about 1500 times stopping the record on the turn-table to work this song out. One of the Best Songs Ever!!! THANKS FOR THE REMINDER!!!

Suggesting "Bitch" for the next Rolling Stones song. It has one of the best guitar riffs the Stones ever did along with a strong horn section and some funny but very relatable lyrics.
