Excellent song! Out of all of Sting's masterpiece songs...this song is No.1 on my list from him. It makes me emotional every time I hear it. It is very very deep about our relationship in this life and Love. I played over a dozen times a year. Sting is definitely one of my all-time artist. I just love everything has does. Fantastic emotional reaction!!! The musicians who played on Sting's song "Shape of My Heart" include: Sting: The song's composer, lyricist, and producer, who also sang vocals Dominic Miller: The song's co-writer and guitarist Larry Adler: Played harmonica on the song........"Shape of My Heart" was released in 1993 as the fifth single from Sting's fourth solo album, Ten Summoner's Tales. The song has been sampled by many artists, including Sugababes, Craig David, Nas, and Monica.

My favourite Sting song! So glad you guys finally reacted to this! And Domonic Miller on the guitar is a legend. He had worked with Sting for decades now and is an important part of the music they've made. The Ten Summoner's Tales album is one of the best. But one day you guys will react to some of the songs from his Symphonicities album and you'll be blown away again by songs you've heard but that he rearranged with an orchestra - it's beautiful! Don't dismiss those versions just because you recognise the song titles - they bring a totally new experience to the songs.

The song 'Shape Of My Heart', by renowned artist Sting, is a composition that delves into the depths of the human soul, using the metaphor of a card game to explore more complex themes such as the search for meaning and the true nature of being. The lyrics of the song suggest a reflection on the intentions and values that drive people's actions, going beyond appearances and material gains. At the beginning of the song, the narrator describes a player who is not interested in the money or the respect he could gain from the game, but rather seeks answers and understanding through the cards, which represent elements of life and destiny. The 'sacred geometry of chance' and the 'hidden law of a probable outcome' are expressions that evoke the idea that there are deeper patterns and meanings to be discovered in everyday experiences. The repetition of the lines 'I know that the spades are the swords of a soldier, I know that the clubs are weapons of war, I know that diamonds mean money for this art' reveals the narrator's knowledge of the traditional symbols associated with the cards, but he insists that 'that's not the shape of my heart', indicating that his essence and values do not align with these superficial representations. The song therefore invites the listener to look beyond what is tangible and consider what truly shapes a person's character and identity, suggesting that love and authenticity are the true guides to understanding the 'shape of someone's heart'.

It feels like sadness and hope. And then Dominic Miller's guitar... it's not just the melody, the sequence of notes in the right time, it's the warmth of the sound that envelops you like a warm blanket in front of a fireplace.

You always make fair reactions and I like that. And it is so clear in this reaction that he only focuses on the music and the instruments and does not capture the drama in the text at all. Whereas she captures the music, the text and the drama in the text, such as when Sting sings that the mask he wears now is only one of his masks, we clearly see in her that she is deep inside the text. That is the quality Sting has. He tells a story in his own way and he captures people's attention. Or almost everyone's attention 😉😉

Feel pretty confident in saying the middle eight/instrumental bit main instrument were Uilleann Pipes, (like a more mournful version of bagpipes), which were cross faded in the editing when the song was mixed, into a harmonica part-so it would sound like one instrument when the song was played back. The main part throughout the song would likely have been a classical/nylon stringed guitar. And the bit at the end Amber asked about was again a harmonica.

Hi there from one of your longtime followers. I have always enjoyed watching you both with your genuine responses to music, no fakery just real and immediate. But I must say that this song produced such a beautiful reaction from you Amber, such a heartfelt bliss and expression deep and pure . One of my lifelong desires is to watch someone display such as this. Like this song as you said “intimate’ you are both so lucky to share these experiences , may it last a long time, I send you my love and appreciation . Bob in Australia

Amber that's Dominic Miller on guitar & the great Vinnie Colaiuta on the drums. Both have played on Sting's album & performed with him live since Sting's 3rd solo album & still with him today. Next for Sting, how about Fortress Around Your Heart or All This Time. Two of my favorites by him.

First time I actually heard this song was when it plays out at the very end of the film Leon (incredible film btw) into the closing credits - was such a great fit for how the film finishes and even more haunting than when you listen to it as a stand alone. Its from his album Ten Summoner's Tales, which also features If I Ever Lose My Faith In You and Seven Days (with its rather amusing lyrics).

That instrument was a harmonica, not a violin. A wonderfully wistful tune. Two terrific upbeat (funky!) numbers from this same album ("Ten Summoner's Tales") to check out sometime are "Heavy Cloud, No Rain" and "Epilogue (Nothin' 'Bout Me)."

Great song. He sang this song last night at the St. Louis double headliner Sting and Billy Joel concert

If you want to see what Sting is really capable of, you have to check out the 'Live In Oslo 1993' concert. It's with the same incredible band as in this video, and it's the best concert he ever recorded. It's incredible from start to finish, but the highlight is 'When The World Is Running Down', which has a jaw-dropping keyboard solo.

It’s a great song with the added bonus of the late great Larry Adler on harmonica ❤

Amber, the instrument you thought was a violin is actually a harmonica and is played by the late great Larry Adler and boy did he make that thing sing, heartbreakingly beautiful and lifts an already brilliant song to another level

Another fine song by Sting from his Ten Summoners Tales album. 'Its probably me' is another good one from this album. A great track is 'Brand New Day' featuring Stevie Wonder on harmonica.

The earlier version from Lethal Weapon 3 is awesome. Eric Clapton on guitar and David Sanborn on saxophone. So many others still to go - If You Love Somebody, Moon Over Bourbon Street. Love is the Seventh Wave all from his first solo album. We'll Be Together, Mad About You, Let Your Soul Be Your Pilot, Brand New Day... lots to cover.

Annie Lennox performed Sting's song "Fragile" in a surprise performance that is worth seeing along with the Brilliance of the song itself. Also, "Russians" is an incredible piece of Sting's songwriting and currently relevant. 🌈💕

Very Lovely song... and sometimes Amber's insight and thoughts are really detailed, and perspectives I would not have thought of. J- You're lucky to have Amber's input... something No other Music 'Reaction' channel has, IMO. Great Reaction, You Guys! :)
