It's called a "Hook". something that the music industry as a whole doesn't have anymore. Which was one of the things that made music from the 70's and 80's so memorable....and you had actual musicians playing real instruments and no auto tuned vocals....Thanks for taking me back again to my teenage years, that song was in constant play for me in the summer of '85-'86.

Saw them live at the Richfield Coliseum! Got tickets late in the nosebleed section, a month earlier saw Pat Benatar with floor seats. Me and my girlfriend always saved our ticket stubs they looked identical to the Loverboy tickets. When the lights went down we made our way to the floor, when the usher asked to see our tickets I covered Pat Benatar so he only saw floor seats. He let us go down on the floor and we managed to squeeze in where there was one seat available. Not that it mattered everyone was on their feet the entire show! Wonderful memories! Great show!
