Just when we thought we were free from the scourge of Batwoman, another director comes along to prove us wrong. This time, Director X, a man who has made his living shooting music videos, brings us the classic story of Robyn Hood, this time, with a bisexual black woman as the main lead.
Because we were all asking for it right?

That's because you're looking at the behavior in and of itself. These people are ultimately relativists. Behavior is good or bad based on who is doing it. So if a white director and crew made a show like this, it would be bad. But a black guy made this show, so it's good.

The thing that amused me was the tag line "robin hood robs from the rich!" Interesting that it mentions nothing about "giving to the poor!" On the general debauchery . I am not joking, the other day my wife found a book which claimed that the 7 deadly sins, as in anger, lust, pride, greed, sloth, envy and gluttony, are actually positive traits which women should embrace, and categorising them as "sins", is simply the view of "the patriarchy!" So yeah, of course in this current bizarre climate, a rampantly racist, shamelessly sexist, miserably misandrist show with a drip of a director would have less morality than the average mobster!

A much more topical premise would have been to make it about a homeless encampment in Toronto's Sherwood Park. There's probably something interesting that could be done with that. If you want to check out a better Robin Hood adaptation that tries to change things up a bit, check out _Robin of Sherwood_ (1984-86).

What got to me was when Director X said something to the effect of “Nobody cares about Robin Hood” to justify why he could do whatever he wanted with the story. As an Englishman who was born and raised in Nottinghamshire I can tell you that Robin Hood is a VERY big deal here! Half the streets in Nottingham are named after characters from the stories, there’s even a silhouette of Robin Hood in the Nottinghamshire county flag! I mean if you’re going to use somebody else’s culture for your own project at least have the decency to respect it!

So, I'm black and grew up in Gary, Indiana. Its a hood so famous Futurama dunked on us. I wished to make me expertise known in advance, so you understand where I'm coming from when I say this is the most commercialized, cartoony "hood" I've ever seen in my life. Like, so I'm 41, right? I grew up on Spike Lee films (I ain't calling them joints) and even back then, we used to make fun of how over-the-top and stererotyped his movies were just to make really dumb points that only make sense if you think all of America hates black people. This show puts anything he made to shame. Which is too bad, cuz the director made the new Superfly and I kinda like that.

I haven't heard anyone say this yet, but it warrants pointing out this is a Canadian show written for an American audience. We do not have Sheriffs, we have Mounties and If Mama-San got hospitalized here her odds would be 50/50 and she'd have to wait a minimum of 8 months to get a wheelchair. I could keep going, but you get the picture. The thing is, you absolutely could do a modern Robin Hood but you have to be prepared to go against the real life authorities to do it.

Everyone is reacting to the condom jar, but the reality is that this show is just expressing more bluntly what movies and shows have been doing for decades now, the gradual shrugging off sexual morality with "Don't do anything I wouldn't do, use protection, lol". Especially in shows/movies aimed at adolescents. And these "condom jars" actually do exist in workplaces, much less houses. Go to a blue city government office, and they put them out there openly.
