Robyn Hood reviews were of a new Canadian show from Director X. A "modern re-imagining" of the classic English tale of Robin Hood. As the third episode launches with reviews on the way, Director X isn't happy with the shows response from critics. Taking to Instagram to talk about the comments and reviews on sites light IMDB. But is Director X right in his commentary? Or is it more a question of is Robyn Hood worth watching?

As Robyn Hood episode 3 is released with reviews on the way, Director X has taken to Instagram to tell the audience what he thinks of them and their opinions. We've seen this kind of attitude before, by properties from Star Trek to Star Wars (all the stars), and it never worked before. But this time, I think Director X might think he's being entirely original. He certainly seems to think that what he's done to Robin Hood is, despite it being the most commonly done, derivative creation of the last few years. This is the DEFAULT idea in Hollywood now, not a new twist. The question at this point, is as Robyn Hood's audience crashes after every episode, will Director X change his marketing tactics for Robyn Hood and start to appreciate the audience? Or will he just double down? What are your thoughts, let me know down below and as always, thanks for watching :)

I mean, when you have the kind of maturity that only notices a problem that affects you directly, and when the same problem affects others, it isn't real or doesn't matter....well, you are unlikely to be able to create something that connects with the general public. It's kind of ironic that Robin Hood is a story about taxes being taken from the working class to enrich friends of the government, and the hero steals back those taxes. I remember seeing the original Disney animated movie Robin Hood in the late 70ies. Small me (non white person from neither US, CAN or UK) was intrigued by all the interesting concepts. A King called the 'Lionheart', Crusades, wonderful archery... and questions like 'what is a Sherwood?' and 'where is Nottingham?'. A decade later, in the late 80ies, I am still a fan of the movie (along with epic classics like 'Princess Bride' and 'Labyrinth') and I went to an international school in the UK as a follow up to primary school. And there I was happy to visit all these places, I have only heard about. I got interested in the historical background of the crusades, started to read up on them etc. In short: the Disney movie from the 70ies got a 5-year old interested in history, opened up the mind to a whole cornucopia of ideas and concepts. And made me curious about folklore of countries, outside my own. (And yeah, 'men in tights' is also awesome :) ) - The story of Robin Hood is an integral, cultural folklore of the British people. It is not racism, sexism or any other -ism (what about folkloreism?!?) and here we have Director X (the name being cringe and imho an unjustified appropriation, but I digress...) blatantly abusing the cultural heritage of a foreign country, shallowing it to the point of spit on a hotplate. I consider this Robi/yn Hood series a prime example of cultural ignorance, lack of creativity and a sad testimony to a current trend in media production.

Yup. From the "Robyn Hood" IMDB page: _"Director X (formerly known as Little X) was born on October 31st,1975 in Toronto, Canada, and is of Trinidadian and Swiss descent. Moving to New York City he became the protégé of pioneering hip hop director Hype Williams, X has been noted for directing high-budget, visually distinctive videos for popular artists, including Drake, Jay Z, Kanye West, Wiz Khalifa, Usher, John Mayer, Korn, Iggy Azalea and many more. His work has been nominated and awarded by the MTV Music Video Awards and Much Music Video Awards. X has directed commercials for Mercedes-Benz, Mc Donald's, Ikea, Directv, Nintendo, Bacardi, Guiness and Yeo Valley. As a film director, X made his directorial debut in 2014 with an edgy drama titled "Undone."_ That sounds like a guy who has spent his whole life surrounded by people who are all high off the smell of their own farts.

As I've explained to too many people (I should just give up tbh), anything you post on a public forum of any kind is subject to criticism. And it WILL be criticized, no matter what it is. Director 10 forgot that and, more importantly, forgot that you can learn as much, if not more, from criticism than from praise. I love glowing reviews, but the most useful one I got was a short essay of everything wrong with the story. I still don't agree with all of it, but some of it made me go "Shit, yeah. A commonly overlooked problem with initial ratings is how many people are connected to the production of these shows and movies, and have access to the same rating methods regular people do. Look at this Robyn Hood nonsense....likely at LEAST 500 people were involved in making it, and all of those 500 people have friends and families that are being begged for positive reviews because they all benefit from it doing well....that means that, very likely, the first few thousand positive reviews that arrived right on time...were obviously them....and it's no surprise that the thousands and thousands after them had an entirely different opinion, and right when they show up with reality, is when these directors claim review bombing is taking place.

I saw this happen in close to real time. There was a film made by an independent British film maker. We had all been following the production process, regular updates, photos on set, model work etc. It actually looked like it could have promise. I, like many people, even bought the DVD on pre release. It was sold direct to DVD and at first it had *incredibly* high ratings. Then as people who were not connected to the film (didn't work on the film / have family or friends in it / financial stake in its success) reviewed it, the ratings tanked. I couldn't even recommend it as coaster for your coffee table.

I genuinely had no idea this was a REAL thing until I looked into it. I don't follow media that closely nor directors/producers in any facet, but Director X should be ashamed and embarrassed by his actions. Not only in producing and directing an AWFUL show (which was genuinely reviewed by folks who actually watch TV) but to double down on his antics AND claim racism, using a literal crutch to defend his hypocrisy and weak mind, is beyond telling of his true nature. Feeling Smollett vibes right now. I tell my son to never mention race in any setting unless it's to celebrate OR is a legitimate call-out due to genuine racism/prejudism, that which he has yet to even experience. It is truly sad to see members of my own apparent race (one I don't even solely identify as, being that I am multi-racial) act in this manner...but then to see as a man, that he's adding to this "toxic" culture by shouting false claims supported by his own pathetic ideologies and behavior is laughable and sad at the same time. He should look into growing up. Maybe his meditations will help him see through the fog he created himself. Doubt it. Thanks for the chuckle, Disparu!

Honestly, I've never even heard of "Robyn Hood". And I'm GLAD I didn't, because I don't watch TRASH like that anyways. So its GOOD it's getting review bombed, hopefully it will get canceled and make way for something that's ACTUALLY GOOD.

Keep in mind that there are strict diversity requirements in Canadian entertainment to access government funding. This show doesn’t need to be good to “be successful “. It will definitely get a season two.

High diversity quota certainly helps, but It's not that bad Watch the credits of any of the big Hollywood movies filmed in Canada, they all get money from the feds and whatever province they filmed in. They don't just come here for the cheap labour, lots of bribery too

This is what you get with mandated diversity requirements lol. When the actual quality is of secondary, or tertiary importance compared to checking enough minority boxes and spreading enough "moral messages".

As a Canadian- This is the reason why I don't watch ANYTHING made with Canadian public funds (CBC or shows with Federal/Provincial government patronage). It's often preachy, corny, trite, and hammy. I don't care... This, Workin' Moms, Murdoch Mysteries, Corner Gas, Schitt's Creek, etc. just either goes WAY too hard on the preachy end or swings hard on the hammy acting and stale writing that only people over 60 watch.... Okok, Kim's Convenience and Mr. D had moments...

As a Hispanic, these classic stories do not need race and/or gender swapping. I don't get why they "think" that when they do this that it's automatically a great movie or show. Maybe it's a lack of genuine creativity to make a great story on their own? Of course, there is 1 show that it actually was really good with a great story and with a great cast. Im an angry Nerd, US Army Airborne Infantry Soldier 1999-2011, ex-auto mechanic, gamer, and now a software developer pursuing his Bachelors in Software development.

I work in advertising and have to deal with directors who think they’re god’s gift rock stars all the time. They often surround themselves with ass lickers and have no idea that outside their little superficial world, they’re utterly irrelevant. I love how this “X” (sniggers at the try-hardness of this name) is breaking down when people like you refuse to pander and just keep calling this show out as garbage again and again. These narcissists simply can’t take being exposed for what they are - untalented virtue signalling try hards.

He did make some classic music videos: "Yeah!" by Usher, "King Kunta" by Kendrick Lamar, "Shake Ya Ass" by Mystikal, "What's My Name?" by DMX, "Hot in Herre" by Nelly, Korn's "Coming Undone", "Promiscuous" by Nelly Furtado. Those are some great pieces of work. Honestly. I'm not being facetious. Then again, he also made "Fancy" by Iggy Azalea. And "Hotline Bling". And music videos by Black Eyed Peas, Bebe Rexha, DJ Khaled, Chris Brown, R. Kelly, R. Kelly. Damn. He's worked with R. Kelly numerous times. He also directed the third Center Stage movie.
