When Robyn came out, I was working in Top-40 radio and the listeners lit up the request line for this song and "Do You Know". Mid-90's to early 2000's was the last of radio's 'glory days' . Glad I got to play this song and be a part of that fun time.

I was today years old when I discovered that this was Robyn. Heard it everywhere back in the late 90s, but never knew it was her.

For some reason when she specifically sings that "your the one that I ever needed" part, all the new-to-the-world excitement of my 90s childhood comes back to me like the smell of play dough. It's something about that melody. Feels like 6th grade and having crushes for the first time.

That bar that was so off on grammar, it's nostalgic. .. She reminds me of Sia.. Sia did "Little man". So underrated, well, not anymore. ... lol like being in time warp watching that.. I wanna be a pree teen again

And I thought I was the only one. That crisp entry of the chords. The most personal is the most universal indeed.

My dad bought me this album for Christmas in 5th grade and said “this girl is incredible she's going to be around for a long time” and he was right. I still have the album over 20yrs later.

Loving getting old; I laugh my buns off at the fact that my mom told me that 31 was a good number for her; she was two weeks from 35 when she gave me birth. Age, I don't know, it's good to be alive.

I don't know why there was always so much happiness in 90's songs. I really miss that era.
@gabe_s_videos8 жыл бұрын
+ahmedao Because we had nothing to worry about. The economy was good, we weren't at war with anyone, and when Kurt Cobain died, everyone was sick of gloomy music an just wanted to be happy again.

For a different perspective, almost all I heard in the 90's was the opposite of "happy"...upbeat pop like this was at a minimum until the late 90's with the boy bands. There was a *huge* influx of negative music that came about in the early 90's, esp when compared to all the positive music of the 80's. Mainly in the grunge and rap genres. And it was marketed and sold like crazy. Consciousness plunged in the 90's folks; go back and listen to something like James Brown in the late 60's, the musicianship was off-the-charts, and it was fun pop-ish dance music. It became cheaper and easier to hire programmers, and the music has suffered ever since, with just a few exceptions. This song is fun, has great production, but is also very minimal (very Max Martin). Just saying the 90's really offered piddle in comparison to the energy of the 60's through 80's. IMO, the toilet was flushed in exactly 1990.
