Very interesting and well Articulated. Quite sad to know those people - the Maroons and Tainos - who ARE an INTEGRAL part of our culture seems, to be overlooked and seemingly disowned, by the Jamaican government. (OUT OF MANY ONE PEOPLE)?? Thank you both for enlightening me, an old Jamaican living in UK for over 60 years. Jamaican history to pass on to my grandchildren. Keep up the goodwork

Damascus and Gaza are obviously Arabian why would you falsely believe they were in South America. The people of Damascus and Gaza look nothing phenotypically like south Americans and also religiously and culturally different. No architecture or structures common to Arabia have ever been discovered or mentioned by the native peoples.

I believe that Maroons should fortify themselves with knowledge of their purpose in the island of the sea. That they're a treasure chest of Asra (Not 'Israel') and are those that hold the culture of the lost tribes intact in our region. I believe the maroons, under a young intelligent leader with a divine purpose should start their own outreach program to Jamaica instead of waiting on European cult leaders to create the system that facilitates remembrance to the people. The Maroons have the power to do the most.

Before you offer support for the so-called Maroons, first find out the treaty that they signed with British. Also find out their role in the in the suppression of slave uprising in Jamaica. And there's no tribe called Maroon, it's a mixture of different Africans tribes and people who escaped from slavery and formed different communities. These "Maroons" have to answer for their alliance with the British and their betrayal to the rest of African Jamaican. So don't be so quick to glorify them, yes they fought against the British in the beginning but they also fought against there fellow Africans. And even now they still want to separate from the rest of the African Jamaicans.

I don't have enough information about the Native American treaties to comment on them. The British were losing and the Africans had the upper hand. The Africans should have let the British know that the only peace they the British would have is if they release all the Slaves and left the island. You don't sign a so-called treaty that benefits the oppressor. Like i said before Maroons is just a generic term, they were all Africans. And regards to self preservation, if they had joined the Tacky Revolution which if successful would put Jamaica under real African rulership instead of what we have now. They the so-called Maroons help the British to destroy many enslaved Africans from uprising and also help to capture runaway slaves, who they the Maroons was once enslaved. There is not enough space here to go over that history but its a very, very sad history.

Go seek the full story. It's in the Maroon's interest to cast themselves in the best light. A good argument can be made about them being traitors. In their deal for their own freedom from the British they promised not to harbour and to hand over any runaway slaves. To which they compiled. They were also instrumental in helping the British track down the instigators of other rebellions like the Morant Bay Rebellion, the Sam Sharpe Rebellion (Christmas Rebellion) and Tacky's Rebellion. To their credit they were very good at this. The Maroons were paid by the British government to track down the legendary Three- Finger Jack and his band of Runaway Slaves. The Maroons caught him dismembered him in 1781. I respect the Maroon heritage and story but it ain't all roses 🌹 and sunshine🌞.

The game had important ritual aspects, and major formal ballgames were held as ritual events. Late in the history of the game, some cultures occasionally seem to have combined competitions with religious human sacrifice. The sport was also played casually for recreation by children and may have been played by women as well.[4] Pre-Columbian ballcourts have been found throughout Mesoamerica, as for example at Copán, as far south as modern Nicaragua, and possibly as far north as what is now the U.S. state of Arizona.[5] These ballcourts vary considerably in size, but all have long narrow alleys with slanted side-walls against which the balls could

Why stop at the Akan or Ashanté? What about Timini, Mandé, Sousou? Why stop at Ghana and Twi? What about Sierra Leone, Nigeria, Senegal, Mali, and Twa? Keep moving back in time and things gets real interesting. The migration of seemingly entire communities back and forth, to and fro, oftentimes returning significantly different in culture than before previous migrating, forced or otherwise unforced. Some originating eastward and only establishing their dominance in West after significant time and external influence. It gets even more distinctly mix and modern ethnicities and borders start collapsing. I mean look what's been happening with the (now) so-called white race. Remember, there exists more diversity on that one continent than exists on all others combined......SO FAR....as modern academia is concerned. But look out, cause the future of American ancient history will surprise even that present understanding. Selam fellows

As a student I once asked why we took trips to see caged animals but not to see this important part of our country? I was told to sit and be quiet. Seeing this would uplift the mind of the young and we would grow to treasure and help nurture this diamond in our midst. Claim your seat in parliament and let them learn from the Marroons how you all work together as an independent people 👏

Love the Vid ,thank you, I was watching another Vid by IRIE and somehow got pointed in this direction. This story has similiarities to Quebec and Canada one nation of many but two societies in respect of the French and the English values and economies and Culture and territories and natural resources .So far elections, referendums and conferences have ensued , unfortunately it's taking a lot of time to recognize our 3rd most important society Our fore runners, the Indigenous people we have a ways to go. But were working on it and peacefully. We too have a constitutional story and no one is too keen on another provincial federal round of tic tac toe. I wish all the best, love carribean and enjoy my final years diving. you got great waters. Great Ideas here , Nothing is greater to see in the world ,Peaceful Democracies emerge out of a place of differing people respecting each others existence and helping form a common road for the good of all societies. Thanks for the moment.

My great grandmother was a Maroon and it bothers me to- date that I was never able to trace that ancestry and get more information about the Maroon heritage. It would be good to hear how he would get the funding for the different programs and development he intends to do for the community.. Also, is Richie single? 😂😂😂😂 #ikid 😏 Awesome interview Rochelle!

Not everyone knowing the history of Jamaica is enamored with the Maroons.
