Rock fishing for surf perch and July razor clamming

A beautiful day out on the Oregon coast. First time out fishing for perch off rocks and using clam necks and berkley sand worms. Got my biggest perch ever, my new personal best.

Fantastic day! The ODFW app works if there is no signal. The trick is to login before you head to the coast to make sure your login info hasn't been wiped out by an update. I miss razor clamming and I was hopeful for it to restart in October but we'll see... The domoic acid levels are way too high because of the increase in algae blooms and the intense 7 degree increase in water temperature...!!! I've run into two state troopers - one time when I was on the beach with you! That time he didn't ask for licenses but the other trooper I was visited by was very early in the morning (just after sunrise) in tillamook bay. He measured my dungeness because it looked kind of smallish but it was definitely legal (I always err on the side of caution and toss back questionable ones). He was super nice and complimented me on my crab pot modifications. Great video, as always.

Hi Hale, glad to see you out in the flats again. I just wanted to say that I really haven't run into any nasty Game Wardens, some are just friendlier than others. It's been a couple of years since I have been checked though. Yesterday we were fishing in Monterey and we thought we were going to be checked but it was just the Coast Guard checking out the old boat. The boat is fine but it has been sitting outside in the weather for a lot of years so the interior is shot and it is a bit nasty looking. THey have checked it a couple times so they gave us a copy of their report so we don't have to go through the check every time. Very nice young men. A lot of fun to talk with.

Am coming out to go crabbing and fishing from Nebraska. Have learned allot from your videos. However if you want to teach a Nebraskan how to fish better I would be all for that. I don't get to surf fish out here flat lands.
