To answer your good question, she only turned 16 in January and has been recording for ten years. She and her parents don't want to rush her to stardom, for it takes a terrific toll - too many child prodigies have succumbed. Her contract with Republic, signed when she was 14, as their "highest priority new artist," includes provision for Angelina completing high school before Republic does major promotions. She has about 170 performances in the public domain - see super-fan Rusty Shackleford's site for complete playlists. She has about 3.5 billion views on all the major social networks. She is Norwegian, so is better known in Europe, but her appearance in America's Got Talent - The Champions in 2019, aired in 2020, introduced her to the American public. She is, without doubt, the most talented newcomer to the music scene. She can ace every genre and make it look easy! If you want to make a song better, have Angelina perform it. She will add a third dimension missing from even highly renowned and performed songs. There is no singer today who can tell a story better than she can. And she feels songs deeply and sends her emotions directly into yout veins. Angie has written 5 songs, had 2 written for her to sing and has done one demo recording, for which she is the original artist. She plays the piano and guitar and, I have heard, the flute and violin. Her perfect pitch would help with the latter. After listening to 10 or 15 you will no longer be surprised, but you will always be amazed.

Great question, I’ve been asking myself. She should be a superstar by now. I watched the Grammys and the Billboard awards, and I can’t see Angelina at any of these. She is not glitzy, doesn’t have dancers all around her, she isn’t dressed in sexy, revealing clothes, doesn’t use Autotune. Angelina lets her voice speak for her. Her talent is astronomical, she is shy, humble and just a great talent.

Music studio's have been trying to sign her since she won NGT at 7-8yrs old. All were turned down. Angelina's family didn't want the industry to ruin her. They wanted her to grow musically as she wished. It wasn't until she was 14 she was signed to Republic Records who were agreeable to let Angelina grow musically. Watch some of her TicToc, she's still vocally experimenting. She has done an on line Xmas special last year. In an interview that day, it was announced she will be releasing an album with some of her original pieces as well as covers. She did a Duffy cover ....games (brain fart) for the movie "The Hating Game". She did "all" the vocals on the cut. There are some of her original songs she's done out on Utube or listed in her personal accounts. Most of the covers she's done, she has made changes to them herself. Talented, gifted, a prodigy; all are true about her. But as I've indicated, her family wanted her to have as normal an upbringing as possible.

You are right; Angelina is a world class artist and her international following is growing rapidly, already in the many millions. Adele is a spectacular singer & a wonderful songwriter, as this evidences, but every now and then someone comes and takes an absolutely brilliant song & turns it into a masterpiece. Angelina does this over and over. She is currently 16 and already has over a decade of performance experience to draw upon. Her voice & style encompasses many influences yet remains unique. This is not simply a natural talent. Angelina works continuously on developing her skills and her repertoire, including original compositions. Hello again and thanks a lot for another beautiful reaction to Angelina. Angelina had JUST turned 15 in this one. At age 14 she was signed by Republic Records, and she is currently RR's highest priority new artist. The man accompanying her on the piano here is the artistic director of Republic Records himself, Rob Christie. He has also accompanied her on 3 or 4 more performances. He has taken somewhat of a mentor role over her, so she's in good hands. You ask if she is well known and doing well now. Here's the thing : Angelina's family (her uncle is her manager) has always been very protective of her, ensuring that she can have an as normal childhood as possible. She won Norway's Got Talent in 2014, at the age of 7-8 (8 by the time of the final), and they didn't want to throw her to the wolves. There has of course been an extreme level of interest from the very big companies, like Disney, but they have all been turned down. Simon Cowell on America's Got Talent was also turned down, hence why she ended 6th in AGT The Champions in 2020. (The first 5 were offered a contract with him.) The reason why they decided to go with RR is based on the fact that they guaranteed Angelina full artistic freedom, and that they promised not to promote her in any way before Angelina and her family think the time is right. They have been focused on giving her time to at least finish school, and if we talk about high school, that's just a matter of a short 2 months from now. Angelina held an online Christmas concert in December, and there she confirmed that she is working on her first album with RR. I know that she has been for almost 2 years, so personally I'm very hopeful that she will release the album this spring/summer. That would coincide perfectly with her tour here in Norway in June/July. I will see her on July 10th and I just can't wait :-) You have reacted to Angelina's performance of "I Put A Spell On You" when she was 9. Why not react to her demo recording (studio recording) to the song "I'm Still Holding Out For You" when she was 10 ? That performance sits comfortably on most of her fans' top 5 list or even higher. Myself included. The performance is shrouded in a bit of mystery, as it was never released. Some people claim that it has to to with her mother who tought that the lyrics was a bit age inappropriate. That has never been confirmed. Luckily, a man from the studio kept a copy of the recording and dropped it on YT 2 years later. No attempts were made to take it down, so it seems all parties were OK with it being out. IMO the performance would have gone right on the charts if it had been released, it's really THAT good. You would not in a billion years have guessed that it's being performed by a ten 10 year old girl if you didn't know. I really think you should react to that one next. Strongdad, everyone has a "top ten" list of Angelina songs they love the most. Of course, most top ten lists contain about 100 songs because it is impossible to not include certain songs from the list! This video is highly regarded and is on everyone's list. In fact, many Angelina fans (her 'angels') have this in the top three. To answer your question in the very beginning about why she isn't recognized "in the West" for how great she is, she hasn't been officially marketed to the world yet (family decision). The family has guided her along very carefully and although she continues to produce music on tik tok and other places the emphasis on her life right now is to continue her education and live life as a "normal" teenager as much as she can before she commits herself to her career full time. Everyone wanted her to sign with them (Disney, AGT, David Foster, Quincy Jones, and on and on) but her uncle/manager (Michael) had a list of requirements that needed to be adhered to by anyone interested in signing her. If they came up short he turned them down (I'm sure to the astonishment of the large players in the game). But, along came Republic Records which is a giant in the industry and when the "big bosses" heard her sing they told their people to agree with whatever the demands would be because they recognized this was someone who, in time, will rule the planet! So, Republic has low keyed it because of the family's request and so far everything seems to be working out very well. Strongdad, we are getting closer and closer to the day when she will announce she is "all in" and, OMG, what a glorious day that will be! People who enjoy her and believe in her and who she is as a person want, so much, for people who haven't discovered her yet to come aboard and join her and all of us on her journey. I know you are with us already even though you are only three songs into her music. Angelina doesn't "grow"on people. She stuns you right off the bat and you're hooked. That's what she does.

The piano player is Rob Christie, a Grammy winner and LA Studio Director for Republic Records, the same label as Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, the Weekend, and more. Rob Christie is overseeing Angelina's progress towards her first U.S. album. When Angelina signed with Republic Records at age 14, one of the conditions required by her family is that Angelina finishes high school before being heavily promoted. She is well known world wide in the industry. Her family and Angelina have been holding back turning down many of the biggest in the industry including Disney while she finishes school. Remember she's only 16. They finally signed with Republic Records about two year ago after getting a deal that gave her control of her artistic vision and has since released 2 originals, 'Million Miles' & '7th Heaven' plus a soundtrack for the New Movie "The Hating Game" which opens with her song 'Mercy' performed most notably by Duffy. They have made her their highest priority and have Rob Christy and an excellent team assigned to her but again are not promoting her till she and the family give the go ahead. She is due to release her 1st album I heard as early as June or July, fingers crossed but promised by Angelin to be soon. She will also be holding concerts in her Native Norway soon and hopefully more over the summer. She has been working hard and diligently perfecting her craft since winning Norway's Got Talent singing all over the world, Germany, Japan, Korea as well as TV appearances such as the view, Little Big Shots and most notably America's Got Talent where she premiered her Iconic song 'Bohemian Rhapsody' which Queen gave her the rights to record her own version on ITunes and Spotify along with an Album 'Magic' she released on her own and a Christmas Song collection. She didn't win AGT because she would not sign with Simon. IMO. She has also sung for Many Heads of State and for Quincy Jones 85th birthday at the 02 Arena in London and a couple songs opening for Norah Jones in Korea I believe. Also sang at the Nobel Peace Prize Concert at 8 yrs old for Malala and another recipient. Mostly she has sung for charities helping raise millions for children and climate change. The great part is that most of it has been well documented often by herself and her family. Her Grandmother who introduced her to Jazz at 3 & 4 yrs old is behind the camera more than anyone else. Norway proclaimed her a National Treasure shortly after she won AGT. Love the reactions. Get ready for a deep dive. She is worth it! I am surprised to read your comment, "She didn't win AGT because she would not sign with Simon. IMO", as this is somewhat different to what I understand. They had tried previously to persuade Angelina to appear on the show, but Angelina and her Team refused because of the terms of the contract. When she was invited this time, acceptance was only agreed on the condition that there would be no clause which would bind her to a contract. The sponsors agreed to the wishes of Angelina. I have no issue with the fact that Angelina did not win. It was not a singing contest, and that the 50 Superfans chose an acrobatic group is not altogether surprising. What I do find very difficult to understand is that they chose another singer to appear in the top five. Angelina's performance of the iconic "Bohemian Rhapsody" will go down in history as the most memorable interpretation of a song in the 21st Century. All things considered, the fact she did not win was of little importance, as she achieved her objective of exposure to the American public. To illustrate the point. On the day prior to the release of AGT The Champions and Angelina's performance, only 79 Reactors had discovered her. Today, over 1,500 channel owners have featured her - many of them multiple times - and there have been millions of people viewing those reactions.

@@alberttenfoot I believe you have the story I have also heard though I haven't seen anything to support the claim so I kept it to opinion as Angelina herself said in an interview "I really hope to win the show" I also believe the version to be true & that the exposure was the main reason along with her childhood wish to sing for Siman. Thus the negotiations for the appearance according to the account. which is the bottom line she wouldn't sign a commitment so they probably knew they wouldn't win. In a second interview before the winner was announced Angelina revealed she knew who had won but couldn't reveal it. Just my laziness with the short version. WHich is why I labeled it IMO. Nice reaction. You haven't seen anything yet lol. She is the best I've ever herd vocally. She doesn't even sing my type of music I'm more Slipknot, Mudvayne, Three Days Grace, Staind exc. Though I love female vocalist and I'm always looking for new talent on the internet i would never want to be caught jamin them in my car unless it's country lol. One day I was looking for new talent on KZbin and stumbled upon a cover of Born to die by Angelina Jordan I was like what the hell this girl is different so I looked her up and watched Bohemian Rhapsody it was the best cover I had ever seen live. That was 3 years ago I can't stop listening to her she just keeps getting better as if that were even possible. It sucks that she will never be able to recreate some of the songs from the past because her voice is developing into its maturity but Angelina's voice now Wow you can definitely see how all the years of practice have paid off in a big way. Angelina is a true musical genius in that she innately knows how a song must be sung to reveal all the emotions of the lyrics. This is very obvious to me in that she changed the emphasis of the phrase "It matters how this ends, 'Cause what if I never love again?' She was on AGT when she was still 13 yo. She turned 14 (Jan.10, 2020) right after the airing of her performance of Bohemian Rhapsody which got her nationwide attention in the U.S. Plans were probably in the works to begin a US promotion right after that breakthrough performance but then a few weeks later the Covid pandemic began which quelled any hopes of capitalizing from the appearance. Even concerts she had planned in Norway had to be cancelled. I do believe had it not been for the pandemic she would be much further along with her name recognition. At any rate she is still far ahead of what most artists would have accomplished by her still young age of 16. Angelina has, since the age of 7 already accomplished more than most artists enjoy over a lifetime. I do expect her to be a household name by the time she is 20 and probably a year or two sooner. Republic Records and Angelina have too much invested over the past year and a half to not make a big splash when she does release her first album with RR. AJ’s Christmas Show that live-streamed on Dec 23 of 22 had some of the most important musicians of our time: Frank Sinatra's drummer for 6 years, and sun in-law of the late Henry Mancini, Greg Field has won 9 Grammys, and the bass player, Chuck Berghofer who also played for Sinatra for 6 years and toured with Barbara Streisand accompanied AJ on her Christmas Show that aired Dec 23 of 21, and they stated that she had the "storytelling ability of the greats, Streisand, Fitzgerald, Vaughan, including Sinatra, to name a few. The main pianist, a five-time nominated for Grammys, Shelly Berg, stated in all his years working with the greatest vocalist, he had never encountered a talent like AJ. Did I forget to mention Jimmy Z, the famous Sax Player who worked with Rod Steward, Etta James, the Eurythmics, and Doctor Dre, was part of the band for the show? Jimmy stated that AJ was the best he has ever played for. You shall see in the comments what is happening with Angelina, just know that her family protects her and she is being allowed to finish her schooling in the US but is working on an Album. Angelina and her parents signed with Republic Records in November of 2020. Angelinas was fourteen years old at the time. Her parents made it a stipulation that they wanted Angelina to finish her academic obligations and to enjoy the remaining years of her childhood before she begins her professional music career. On December 23, 2021 Angelina performed a Christmas concert and during an interview just before the concert, Angelina revealed that she was writing new music and she will be releasing her debut album sometime this year. From a marketing perspective I’m assuming that the release of her album will be closer to the holiday season.

Great, thanks! She released an album in 2018 (age 12) backed by "The Staff Band of the Norwegian Armed Forces" for whom it was a fundraiser, I believe. It's available on many streaming services and CD, and reached #1 on Jazz charts. She also released 6 songs on an EP in 2017.

Adele is great, but when it comes to heartfelt ballads there is no way a non-jazz singer, even one like Adele, can match the penetration into the depths of the human soul when compared to a true jazz singer like Angelina. Because she is a 'vocal chameleon', it allows her to integrate Adele's vocal sound but goes much further by incorporating the 'breathy', 'whisper-like' releases she learned from Billie Holiday. Not satisfied with stopping there, Angelina goes to the furthest opposite end of the jazz spectrum where Amy Winehouse ruled as the most uniquely different jazz singer of all time. Angelina takes Amy's style of 'slurring' words (for added effect) as well as radical mid-sentence 'key' changes that Amy and Billie both would do. The result is you get what sounds like 4 superstar singers in one song and I have never heard another singer do something as intricate and complex as this.

"One Take Angelina" has a devoted following online. Her parents, to their credit, refused many offers so she could have a relatively normal childhood. (I think I have most if not all of them in one of the three playlists I have for her on my KZbin page) Rob Christie, playing the piano, is Republic Records Studio Director in California and has been working closely with Angelina. Her family have done well in giving her as normal an upbringing as possible, but she does have record-company behind her since the age of 14. Another excellent reaction to our young lady. She sang this last year at age 15. Adele and Beuno Mars wrote and recorded it but Angelina stole it from them lock stock and barrel. She has been signed by Republic a couple years ago, but that has been predominantly a "placeholder" signing with only several singles and originals. I think she should FINALLY release a Republic album in 2023. The other offerings from her was during her childhood developing years and not representative of how far she has come. Angelina the Barefoot Angel signed a contract with Republic Records on 2020 at 14 years old; however, her family doesn't want Republic Records to introduce her worldwide until she finishes high school. Kudos to her family for allowing her to experience a normal life before she becomes a superstar.

The reason she is not yet a superstar is because her family and herself are holding back so that she has a childhood before breaking out. She turned down repeated offers from major labels for years including Disney. She is 16 now, she signed with Republic Records when she was 14, with the stipulations that they would not promote her until SHE was ready and that she sings what she wants, not the other way around. During her online concert at Christmas this last year, she promised an album this year, 2022. Since signing with Republic, she has released 2 songs that they didn't really promote because they are still in the holding pattern till her official "launch" with the release of her album. Her 2 songs are "Million Miles" and "7th Heaven". She didn't win AGT because she would not sign the contract that stipulated if she won, she would sign with Simon's label.

There are also some concert performances she has done. Barring all that, she will be known all over by the end of this year. She sang at the FIFA awards a few weeks ago in Paris.
