This is where I was raised. I'm a native rockspringian🌞 My mom even used to bathe in the springs & I used to watch my uncle and cousin go INTO the cave and chill up inside where there are air pockets. Obviously this was many many years ago.

Another tip on the goggles. Use baby shampoo - single drop on each side. Easier on your eyes if you do not get it all out. Odd to see Rick without his normal chapeau but I really like the Jurassic Park hat too.

Yaaay, we are so excited to head to Rock Springs this weekend! We are S Florida locals, but we try to visit a new spring whenever we go camping during spring break with the kiddos. I’ve been going there since I was a kid, we always camped there a few times a year, we ALWAYS saw deer, raccoons, and black bears multiple times! One of the last times we camped there (about 6-7 years ago) the park had just closed and we were walking back from the springs to the campground thru the parking lot and three bears ran out. We had to stand in the middle of the parking lot and wait for them to scavenge thru the trash and leave. But we never had any problems at the camp sites. Some of my favorite memories from being a kid.

We throughly enjoyed watching your video of Rock Springs. We were narrowing our choose down from Rainbow Springs or Rock Springs. We have done rainbow Springs a couple times but it’s a little bit further from us in Saint Augustine to go to plus it’s either two hour or a four hour float and we just didn’t want to do that this weekend. So we chose Rocksprings based on your video you did a great job on that video lots of information for us. I think we’re going to get there early on Monday July 5th, we will be there when it opens. We have our own tubes so no need to rent them. Thank you again for sharing this great video

@@ItalianCutii09 the kind we bought from Dick’s Sporting Goods store (see road trip “episode zero”) was the best we ever used. It has a valve that covers the top of the tube so water won’t go in it and a release valve at the bottom.

nice video, the springs were under construction when I visited in late 2020 so I could only visit Wekiwa springs which was amazing just down the road and one of the first things I saw (only because you mentioned never seeing a bear) within 5 minutes on the board walk was a baby black bear running away about as scared as I was because I heard momma crunching in the trees lol! I went there for about a week an seen the bear family multiple times they would come down to the actual spring. You should do a video there, lots of wildlife. I caught a very large turtle in the actual swimming spring, stay as late as possible because the animals are accustomed to when the park closes and they move in early sometimes and you can see them. Was really nice seeing a tour of Kelly Springs, I didn't know it was a lazy river. looking forward to snorkeling it like you did

I loved this video so much that I drove 14 hours from Virginia just to experience Rock Springs! I was NOT disappointed! It was everything I hoped it would be…once I took the plunge and got used to the temperature. 😂 I also took out a couple trying to walk over the rocks. Boy that current is strong! Thank you for sharing great spots like this one and for all of the tips. Now I have an awesome memory!

Since it is spring fed it stays a constant 68-72 degrees year round.

Good question! We are going to do a winter version so maybe see you there. remember is the air is colder than 65 then water should "feel" warmer since well it is warmer. I'm going to test it on a really cold day.

Back in 65 got stuck under water trying to go through an opening in a submerged rock ... totally out of breath, only by Divine Luck that I made it out ... Camp Ground is fabulous...not uncommon for black bears to raid your camp site ... had a cooler with black bear teeth marks ...

When you said springs, I didn't think "manatees"; I thought "alligators". Are there any in that area, or is it more of a different area? As a non-Floridian, that's always my biggest concern when I see a body of water there. Beautiful video! :) EDIT: I just watched the part of the video where you discussed alligators, so I'm glad to hear there's no worries there. :)
