I came back to this vid after years, again in the mood to explore more of Perkins' playing. The worked out solo here was executed greatly and sounds very accurate. Excellent work!

The way you play it is just great. Great work! When I learned to play, I could not find very many videos, but your channel was always there, and you taught me a great deal. That was 2 years ago. Thank you so much!!!

I love your videos Randy, you're really the only authentic source of rockabilly that I've come across. You sound 50s and you look 50s. You remind me of the days of cool cars, cool music, and before those tattooed guys from 2000s California ruined the rockabilly name.

I dig it, Someone can definitely learn from this man. The only reason I wouldn't give it a 10/10 is because, when you played the rhythm guitar part you gotta put more attitude in it. I've been playing Carl Perkins style riffs the better part of my life. When carl hits the top 4 strings in any song, he smacks them. You got the formation correct, you got the tone correct, but you *have to physically play it harder than that* no disrespect intended. Carl is a special type of player, coming from country roots, those top 4 strings are everything. You just gotta hit em harder daddyo

Hi Arthur, I agree with you. I have a hard time to get the real attack sound of Carl Perkins going. He had such a great drive in his right hand, and so had the whole band. Thank you for your comment!

@@ducktailcat you're welcome thanks for not taking it harsh. You are playing it correctly and I love to see that. I've watched your videos for a lonnnnng time, especially when I can't figure out a certain bend or note in a song or solo. You've made me a better player, and anyone who helps me in any quest of mine, is alright in my book!

Key of F... Very unusual for Perkins. I guess that one really must have been a sort of spontaneous try or occasional jam track, just like so many at sun. Which then turned out to be a fine performance. That yo yo solo is a quiet greatly piece of art and document of rockabilly guitar technique, especially considering the fact that Perkins heavily relied on his ability to improvise and didn't arrange his songs in regards to smaller details (like phrasing or note selections).

I'm 100% against anything British invasion, it took the spot light away from a damn good, golden period of American music People like Carl could barely sell a record during Beatle mania... and he was better than all 4 combined, and in my opinion, accomplished more from 1955-60 than the Beatles did their whole lives, let alone gerry and the pacemakers :/ Anyone from the top tier of SUN, Standing alone, were better, more musically inclined to the heart, and were more fun to listen to than anything from Britain. The south really shined during the 50s rock n roll movement
