RUSH is THE PERFECT EXAMPLE of the fluidity of MASTERING TIME SIGNATURES! I play drums and there are a few things that you need to know about Neil Peart’s ( pronounced PEER-T) character: First he writes the lyrics so he knows in advance what TYPE of song it’s meant to be ie ballad, driver, etc. Second he COMPOSES on the drums… like a carpenter who looks at a set of blueprints before building the object. Neil lays out a SKETCH in his mind of the VOICES of the drumset and builds the song from there. He is also a great LISTENER knowing when NOT to step over Geddy’s singing or Alex’s solos! Finally, he had perfect timing and fluidity of time changes. He said himself that it’s not about COUNTING the time signatures as much as fluid motion to change the tempo without counting: in other words it should FLOW! He hates repeating the same drum patterns in the same song meaning if he plays a fill one way the first time around he will play it differently the second time around. IE. Rolls down the toms the first time around and triplets or quads (all four limbs) the second time around. In short there will NEVER be another like him on planet earth 🌍 🌏 🌎! REST IN PEACE PROFESSOR! With heart felt admiration and sincerity! Gary

I'm 56 years old and a drummer of 30 years of younger back from 9 years of age. All do respect to the great John Bonham who taught me really good hard Rock drumming... it was when I discovered "The Professor" with 2112 hearing him do things (within the songs themselves) that I knew I reached a higher level of Drum playing then the Live solo's from "All the worlds a stage to Exit" and complex elaborate playing from "Hemispheres" and then to Waves to Moving Pictures. Expanding my set along with tons of practice mastering a fair amount of Rush songs...then my brother and friends saw me has a really good drummer lol. Thanks to the Master Peart. --------------------------- Other Drummer Influence's as well, Buddy Rich, Carl Palmer, Bill Buford, Alan White, Portnoy & Carey etc...hmmm yeah even Grohl for he is the Devil and is compleeete! lol

Best induction introduction ever.

Worst induction ever! Taylor is tweaked and neither of them can refrain from cussing and using uneducated language that disrespects the intelligence and integrity of Neil, Alex, and Geddy. Dave is an amazing musician, and Taylor is a fantastic drummer but they did the absolute worst induction ever. RUSH deserves a lot more intellectual respect than that.

@@klayvonisme you act like they are the only ones stoned at this .. rock and roll hall of fame LOL Rush is a special band, they were screwed that it took this long to get in. Sure, they could have been more serious but who would you have put up there ? Led Zep? Journey? Black Sabbath? They all would be stoned. About intellectual respect, who is on their level to do that ?

Taylor....the ultimate fanboy jumping up and down. Another tragic loss that hurts badly. Condolences to Taylor's family, the Foo family, the Rush family, his friends, colleagues and fans.🙏😔

Every time I watch this video I think of Taylor and Neil. Neil was a legend and it’s so obvious how much respect Taylor had for Neil. Will miss both of them for sure but Rush without a doubt is still the best band ever.

I know the guys from Rush are/were the kind to not really care about some lifetime achievement award. That's not why they made that music in the first place. But as someone else wrote, I'm damn glad they were all here to have the honors given to them. They DID deserve it. And they knew it was more about the people. The fans who got them there in the first place. That's why they even showed up at all, to honor the relationship that got them there. RIP Neil, thank you Geddy and Alex.
