10 Minutes of Useless (but interesting) Facts about Rocket League

You didn't ask...but I did it anyway. In this video I go through 10 solid minutes of useless information about Rocket League. Facts, history, world records, updates, and a whole bunch of unusual clips and observations. None of which really matter at all. At the end of this video you are not going to be a better player and you definitely aren't going to rank up. But I think you'll at least find it an interesting and maybe even entertaining way to spend 10 minutes. Who knows? Maybe one day you'll be able to point back to this video as the reason you won some weird Rocket League trivia contest.

7:57 Flip Resets were an unintentional byproduct of an update in february 2016. I think it would be interesting to here more of the backstory behind this. Its such a pivotal piece of the game now and it would be neat to get some of the backstory of what was included in that game that cased this.

Rocket League released on Xbox on February 2016. The 20xx did not come out until March 2017, over a year later. So my statement is accurate. Also, while some people adopted the 20xx as the new currency the Heatwave still continued to be a staple right up until currency trading was added.

One thing I recently discovered is that the ball makes a noise as it rolls. That maybe obvious to some, but I first noticed it while clowning around in free play. It's a heavy almost grinding noise, like a big rolling boulder.

4:14 Could someone look into this and find out what would happen if you have something covering up the kick off locations as well..? My estimates are the car will start spawning at the opposing side, or not respawn until one is open.

I think it would just not spawn in until the car in the kick off location moves. Just like what would happen in 4v4 heatseeker, the cars will not spawn until the teammate moves off of the spawn location. (This is useless information but oh well lmao)

An og Xbox rocket league player here.. We also used crates as a sort of currency before keys became tradable. I remember using heatwaves but crates was more used. But I didn’t trade that much so I might be wrong.

I'm a caster for SAM and I regularly use the bug that Introduced flip resets to explain why the mechanic exist to new players over different tournaments. It's by far the more interesting fact of the video as long as the removal of non standard maps :P

I wouldnt personally call it a bug. The ability to keep your dodge without jumping was intentional, the shots and mechanics that resulted were unforeseen though.

@@Rocket_Sledge IIRC it was introduced when they tried the new point system. People were exploiting the conditions on snow day to get a massive amounts of points by standing on top of the puck. Psyonix made a hot fix that rendered impossible to get points while on contact, but as a side efect people noticed the puck now acted as a platform that gave back their flip, soon after that came the first recorded instance of flip reset. When Neo Tokyo was introduced yes, they showcased the ability to conserve the flip timer if you launched of a slope that was pretty much intended i agree, but the flip reset as a mechanic i don't think so

@@Hdx64 This is the first I've heard of a theory like this but I would personally disagree based on the time line: XP removed from private matches in June 2018. Points per touch were not added until December 2018. Up until then points were only given for actual events (clear, center, etc) And the first documented use of a Flip Reset is in June 2016. If you've got a dev post that shows something I'm missing I'd like to see it though as I've always understood them to be a part of the Rocket Labs update.
