I say always finish the back of a panel FIRST, then flip it on cones. That way, the cones will only (potentially, if at all) leave marks on the back side of a panel.

Thank you for the clear and concise info. I never heard of these until I got a handheld router and started watching videos on how to hold the work safely. I like the cookies much better than having to use clamps. My project involves routing roundover edges on all 4 edges of 40 pieces of wood, and of course projects in the future. Clamps are tedious.

well i have had these for sometime now but I never used them for finishing till today I found out the cones can put a small dent into my wood not just the finish but the WOOD so I had to start all over with sanding to try to get these dents out from my top but with little to no luck thanks for all the extra work !!!!!

These are really cool if you can spend the money. A less expensive alternative is to buy a dozen cheap hockey pucks on Amazon for around $17. They'll work just fine.

I love my bench cookies (I think I have 4 or 5 sets and an accessory kit). However, you should sell replacement foams as those wear out while the plastic does not and it really is a shame to toss all that plastic.

Maybe he gave us a hint to buy a mouse pad to make our own for replacement. would be far cheaper than what Rockler would probably charge. Use the appropriate glue to hold it down and it should be new.

@@troymeredith521 Without a doubt I could find a similar material and replace the worn out foam. But. My time is better invested in the work rather than cutting and gluing sheets of foam and I do not believe Rockler would overcharge for replacement foam pieces + they would be a perfect fit.
