Man. It seems so archaic how the boss transition doors have a mini enemy gauntlet. Glad they changed it from 1 onwards! Also I detest how there is a mix of both the power fighters and original 8-bit music. I wish they could have made special remakes of all the mm1 tracks.

If I have to pick the most underappreciated Mega Man game, it's this one. Despite being the first game, it manages to get a lot right. The decently balanced weapons, the solid level design albeit imperfect, and the fairly decent Wily Castle Stages. In my opinion, a much better game than Mega Man 2 and the second half of Mega Man 3.

It's definitely among one of my all-time favorite Mega Man games and I keep replaying it over and over and I find it to be easier than many other games in the series lol.

I should mention though that this game kicked my arse when I first played it. I did push through though and it became one of my favourite Mega Man games and I felt like the series didn't surpass it until Mega Man 4.

Yeah,at least MM1 had weapons that actually are pretty useful unlike MM2 where the only weapon that you have are the Metal Blades because they are utterly broken unlike 1 where most weapons are balanced except the Thunder Beam which is a little on the broken side.

I agree with you that this game is a little underappreciated, and a little overlooked. While everyone likes to harp on this game's flaws, and some of the flawed level design choices in certain areas, there's a lot that this game does right. It's a fun 30-45 minute romp.

Quick question, do the Complete Works versions of 1-6 have the Rapid Fire option from the Anniversary Collection?

altho I don't use it during these runs (self pride or something? lol I dunno), but yes, all of them have it, and the frequency between each bullet is pretty well-spaced and not too tight. Triangle button is Rapid Fire. Anniversary Collection took the Rapid Fire from Complete Works, actually. Not to mention the Navi Mode aspects, with translations no less.

The PS2 Anniversary Collection would have been a great addition to the PS2 Classics line so PS3 Slim and Super Slim users could download it (PS3 Slim loses Hardware-Based Backward Compatibility with PS2)

MM 1 and 2 are my least favorite games in the series, but I always liked how the end of MM1 basically had you run a gauntlet. The series never revisited this concept to this day

Might be because they only used music resources from the Arcade games Power Battle & Power Fighters for these PS1 ports. They couldn't figure out what music to choose for other stages in time for the 1999 release date, they eventually swapped MM3 TopMan with MM7 Intro Stage, and MM3 MagnetMan with MM7 CloudMan. When Rockman 4,5,6 were out, they were ready to have full soundtrack arrangement for each stage.

Mal Ant for Rockman 1, 2 & 3, you hover over the 2nd option (ナビモード) in the main menu, hold Select button and push Start or Circle button, and the Arrange music will appear. In Rockman 4, 5 & 6, the Arrange music is on by default when you choose the 2nd option in the main menu.

@@lucasr9485 the top option in the menu is オリジナルモード which will always give you the NES music no matter what you do. You must go to the 2nd option ナビモード then HOLD Select button and don't let go, and at the same time you press Start or Circle button, when the game is loaded and it shows the year of the game's release (1988), you can let go of Select button, and that should work.

Also I realized some of the songs didn't have any alternative music, for example Fire Man, is it supposed to be like this? Elrinth yes it's supposed to be like that on Complete Works. The first 3 NES games didn't have every theme remade, but they fixed that later with the later ones. Also yes, PS2 MMAC has the "Navi Mode" remix music.

Elrinth, I own all 3 versions of MMAC (PS2, GC, Original XBOX), the remixed music is NOT on the GC version, but you can find it on the PS2, and original XBOX versions.

its an optional mode called navi mode, and adds the updated music and beat telling you where to go as well as arrows. Its dumb but keep in mind its optional, plus it adds the updated music and beat can be ignored.

You can't have the updated music without it being in Navi mode. It seems like not all of the music in it is updated though (Ice Man being an example).
