_This_ is the best way to play Mega Man, without the fucking stupid slowdown and flickering. It's mind-boggling that with the hardware advancements we have, the Legacy Collection chose to _preserve_ the fucking slowdowns and flickers, with no option to turn them off.

Totally agree. I always prefer playing the PS1 versions for their fixes and improvements. The water sections play at normal speed as well, without the slowdowns. Even tho my old video doesn't bring it justice at 30fps (but the twitch link in the description at 60fps does to some extent), it still is a fact that the PS1 ports does feel and play more smooth and responsive this way.

I just got through this version of Mega Man 2, it really is a great one with many quality of life improvements. The Legacy Collection finally added a turbo mode but the fact that this has both no flickering and no slowdown makes it the best version imo.

In my opinion, the collection of 1-6 parts of Mega Man on PSX is very good or even very excellent for its time. 4, 5, 6 Parts The arrangement sounds too melodic and even cooler than its 8-bit original. I believe that the entire portable edition of 6 Mega Man games on the fifth generation console is made very worthy.

It’s weird how the Navi Mode HUD is different between 1/2/3 and 4/5/6. Specifically, the shape of the lives counter and positioning of the Navi Alerts are different.

It was selective tracks from the arcade games. This situation was later fixed for the Playstation versions of Rockman 4, 5 and 6 games, since the soundtrack got fully arranged on those.

How do you activate the remixes?

Place the cursor on the 2nd choice in the main menu, NAVI MODE, hold down Select button and choose the mode with Start button or Circle button. This works in Rockman 1, 2 and 3 Complete Works! ^^

I'm not sure if these were redone or just ports of the NES versions... I got to say I didn't mind these but why did the have to reverb the sfxs plus... why do they overlap each other?

The music is streamed audio (similar to WAV/MP3) called XA Audio, and it's not midi or famicom type music, which is probably one of the reasons they are able to overlap each other. Contents like sprites and other visual stuff is loaded from pre-made sprite sheets within the PS1 discs, and the whole thing is coded slightly different, but the gameplay itself seem to be almost similar to the NES versions, while also removing slowdowns completely.

wow the anniversary collection is so toned version down of the complete works for playstation I would've brought this on ps3 psn but thanks to wii u and ps4 a better collection but still nothing like the complete works.

They only took the themes that were available in the arcade games Power Battle and Power Fighters. In Rockman 4, 5 and 6, they put more effort into the themes by remaking all the music.

I feel like they did a poor job in the audio department when it comes to the first three Mega Man (or Rockman in this case) games in this collection. Rockman 2 has poor sound quality, Rockman 1's sound effects are pitched up for some reason, little new remixes for these games (most of them come from the Arcade games, most other songs without an arcade counterpart just use the original NES songs), and even the wrongs songs being used in some cases (why the heck does Top Man's stage use Mega Man 7's intro stage theme?)

Pretty much yea, it had some small fixes here and there, some music was arranged and new game modes and content was added, like a gallery and enemy database, navigation mode to help you out in certain areas of the game, time attack boss rush mode and pocketstation memory card option where you can level up rockman and bosses through the use of mini games and raise their attack power and health

@@DanielAyy you can find all 6 NES games arranged in this fashion on Playstation 1, these new ports were released in 1999. If you own a PS3 you can also download them from the digital Playstation Store from the Japanese and USA region (I think, I know Japanese store has them, not 100% sure of USA store)

@@VixyNyan I decided to take a look at the internals for myself and turns out it's just emulators running modified ROMs + adding other additions on top. Think of it sort of like lua scripts in modern emulators. The ROMs themselves are modified too; I ripped 4 and tried playing it in Mesen but it seems like parts of the graphics were overwritten by some sort of pointer for Navi mode? There's some unusual stuff going on with that emulator for sure.

Those are actually an enemy from the game called pipi (pronounced pee pee). If you hold down A when selecting a level, the pipis will replace the stars that would normally be there.
