Thank you Russell for this classic Waylon song. This song was co-written by Waylon and Shel Silverstein and released by Waylon in the spring of '78. I think you were correct, when the song referenced Willie the song was talking about the period when Willie & Waylon took the outlaw movement to Texas. He also was referencing giving up his seat to Richie Valens because Richie had the flu. Thanks Don for the reaction

@BongJesus9 Thanks for the kind words and for enjoying much of the stuff I do! There's so much to appreciate about these artists, even their off-the-beaten-track songs.

Waylon CHANGED country music!!!!! 1st million selling album! Willie & Waylon told Nashville studios hell no - we will use OUR musicians not studio union guys!! They left the PTB to go to hell & did there OWN things!!! He Started the whole outlaw movement - it really started with Waylon cutting the Billy Joe Shaver song ""Honky Tonk Heros"" if you check out Waylon's 72 tv guest shot then his 1973 live version - you can see the physical change 7 hear the change in his voice & delivery!!! FYI Steel was a heavy thing in most Waylon songs esp with Ralph Mooney at it!! Thanks

I think you would like some “Pre-Outlaw” Waylon. There is a live video of him performing “ That’s What you Get for Loving Me” in 1967 (Gray Suit). I would love to see you react to that.

That song was written by Gordon Lightfoot in the 1960's. Waylon does it proud.

@@pageribe2399 Right, I think Waylon’s true style really shined through in that song. I like Gordon’s version too.

I feel like doing the live version doesn’t give you the best presentation of a new song.
