They should incorporate this in the actual songs. Imagine playing Purple Rain and riffing your own solo while Prince sings behind you.

They could do that in a similar to way to how Guitar Hero was conceived. If you didn't play anything, you would only hear the backing track, because they re-recorded all of the songs. They could use songs that have their masters accessible, so that the guitar or bass would be easily removable and then you could play your own. Maybe for Rocksmith 2024?

my session mode wont work...i put it on session drums and play for a while and nothing happens at all...plus this video shows pictures of guitars and drums that are in ur band and mine just has blank boxes instead of pics of instruments....mine is xbox 360

You should be able to load in the other instruments into those slots, or just pick a pre-set band.

I asked Paul Cross if you can use an electronic drum set and he said it will work with session mode. So guitar, bass, drums, ukuleles and violins all work with session mode that's pretty amazing!

good software fun and helpful. there is no magic software that will make you a great player. you have to learn to pay attention to what you are playing and train your ear.

I really want to learn to play guitar and this software is looking more and more like the way to go. I'm just skeptical of the cable you need to hook up your guitar to the pc. When the first Rocksmith came out, people struggled to get hold of that special cable, and there were a lot of criticisms about the lag between the instrument and the software. Does anybody know what the availability of the cable will be this time round (outside the US), and has the lag been sorted out?

Does the chord layout seem backwards to anyone else? I'm a fairly seasoned guitarist, but I'm used to tabs where the low E is on the bottom. On these diagrams the low E is on the top. Seems slightly counter-intuitive.

No we don't. They've stated repeatedly that all the tracks from the original game will work, including DLC tracks, and you don't have to pay for them again.

Hey guys. The *ONLY* gripe I have about this learning tool called Rocksmith is the way the backing band just stops playing when you've been quiet for a relatively short period of time in Session Mode. I would love to see a setting where we can turn that off so that the band continues to play until we decide to stop them. Or even better (and I know this is asking too much), a way to tell them how long to play, THEN stop... as in a song. That would be the ultimate! But I'll gladly settle for a setting to make the band continue playing no matter how long I've been quiet. We could use the volume controls on the virtual instruments to control the intensity of the tune. But that stoppage really kills the flow and feel of any soloing. This "game" could really also become a great songwriting tool. Imagine -- from learning how to put on a strap, to writing a real, full song. That would be TOO cool. *gonna put this on your Facebook page as well in the hopes it gets seen

This wasn't created to be a bot band, so that you can record and release songs. Is so that you can train and learn how to improvise, or as far as getting inspired by it to make your own songs using the bots as a base.

@@keyblok I never mentioned recording and releasing songs. That would be stupid of them to make, and of me to ask. I'm talking ONLY about Session Mode and how it stops playing too quickly. You have to admit it does go away a bit too quickly for improvising. Unless you have a constant torrential stream in your head that comes out your fingers. Kudos if you do, but we're not all that lucky.
