I liked that the ‘jock’ wasn’t portrayed as the bully/villain and actually befriended Rocky, instead of the stereotype that kids who are good at sport are always the bully.

If he had lived, Rocky would have graduated from High School (not Junior High) in 1979 or 1980. Not sure why but the producers moved the time setting of the movie forward past Rocky's actual date of death in October 1978.
