mikebott didn’t Aztec Camera make waves circa 1985-1991? I bought all of his CDs at Tower Records in SF, but then lost track of the band and Frame.

If you knew the winters in East Kilbride, Scotland, where Roddy grew up, you’d realise what a powerful commitment “walking out to winter” with anybody else would be!

When Roddy Frame takes his guitar out of its case, everyone else puts theirs away - there is nobody better : )

Fuck jonny Marr. This fella dose not get the recognition that Marr does. He wrote this when he was 17 and sings while he's playing maj7th or 13th or 9thb5. I could go on. It's like listening to django rhienhard but singing as well. Underrated genius
@AlistairBurnsGashead5 ай бұрын
Agree with much of what you say though Johnny Marr's genius lies in other areas and needs not being fucked on that basis. Roddy Frame is quite special.
@stevecharlton1455 ай бұрын
I agree but as a guitar player I get pissed off that players like roddy don't get the recognition they deserve. The music press are very selective. When I played bass on 1991s mush by leatherface. Nme ect described us as a band who could go places and they remarked on our appearance ect. Where people in the states liked our raw approach. Appreciate the reply. You're aboviously a cat who knows what you're talking about

Thats one hell pf a chord progression and the bass player is just as snazzy too.The recorded extended version of this song just blows me away,the bass is quite upfront on it and holds it all together beautifully.

got pretty good air play in Toronto 1985- ish great tune!
Your a gent. That's a serious chord progression major/minor 7ths, diminished etc. To think he come up with that and the lyric as teenager.
@1881Gordon10 ай бұрын
@@strumbolli I hear you precisely. Its almost ridiculous that as a teenager he had such an arsenal of 'expensive' chords in his repertoire.... Stunning.

Their first album was my favorite one, i liked the other ones too but nothing hit like the first one for me. That sound was so raw. I felt as if he was trying to sound like someone else ( adding synths n stuff and making more R&B) Idk i took a break from listening to the smiths by listening to their first album. Lol Still good musician tho very good

I wish Roddy hadn’t listened to Mark Knopfler who apparently told him to keep it simple and stop throwing in all the chord changes. For me that blistering pop virtuosity was his trademark and worked so well in juxtaposition with his plaintive but quite simple vocal style. Knopfler was probably just jealous of his skills anyway😂
