I never liked him, but seeing this he is more tolerable. He does go out of character enough here to soften the harshness of the rest of the material. And though it’s unfair, now knowing Rodney helped bring him up it makes it more appealing. He is pretty far beyond Ricky Gervais, but not exactly in a different category. He’s playing a part, and at this early stage it’s clever.
@stephenspencer46724 ай бұрын
Unfortunately the Diceman's shtick wasn't really wasn't funny in the beginning. He was just crude and vulgar without actually being funny. His one saving grace was being cast in the film "Casual Sex" with Lea Thompson and Victoria Jackson. He's actually turns in a very good performance.

He’s the opposite…he gives no respect. And yes he was young, but a little more obviously playing an exaggerated character. The turning it around once or twice balanced it a bit for me. Rodney was smoother, and yes funnier, better material, and of course self deprecation is less offensive. But he was so much more experienced. Clay looks pretty young here. And the premise is so much in the same category, it almost feels like this is material Rodney wrote, but didn’t fit his style, it being the exact opposite.
