I was at this demo!!!!! I can't believe I found it. The announcer announces steve Rocco and mark Gonzales.....but a young Mike V was there also!

It's funny how he accomplished all of those crazy tricks and the crowd was the most excited on him doing a yo-yo plant..
@yoman19914 жыл бұрын
its a pretty difficult and awesome trick!
@drewsipherthehedgehog3883 жыл бұрын
yeah because you don't step off your board while for other hand plants do.

My all time number 1 favorite right there. Been a fan since I was six years old, 1992 when I discovered him. I have one of his original pro model freestyle boards from 1985. I feel so blessed to have that piece of history to hold onto. It was because of him that I started skating. Thank you so much Rodney for all of your talent that you've shared. True inspiration.

My uncle has a few skateboards from the 80s, major props to rodney, those skate board are so effing heavy and the fact that he was able to do all those tricks with a board that weighd like 20 lbs is incredible. Rodney one of my fav skaters of all time. Always picked him on Tony hawk pro skater.
@pearlmax4 жыл бұрын
20lbs lol.
@matthewlambrianou25163 жыл бұрын
Freestyle boards were alot lighter than the big street/vert 80s boards

Freestyle boards of the 80s we're like 7 × 27 inches. Light lol. However, general 80s skateboards were heavy.
@CodeBleu7242 жыл бұрын
80s boards were super wide. I had a Tony Hawk and a Vision Gator deck in 1987. Good for ramps and cruising. By 1993, street decks and smaller wheels were the norm. The game changed so much in 5-6 years. I was getting too old to pull off the crazy shit those kids were doing in the 90s...and they were wearing JNCO pants!

Not even into skating but I can tell this guy is special..... Cos I never seen anyone like this on a board.

Funny how the grabs get the most reactions
@acmeelmerfudd81474 жыл бұрын
J Rich Yes..but flat grabs are pretty hard. You need to be fast. At my active skatetime I also could do an flat indygrab. And I was pretty good at freestyling, too

Not gonna lie I like how grab tricks look.

You haven’t seen freestylers in Japan then yet have you? Coconut wheelies are nothing to those guys and I don’t think I’ve ever seen Rodney do a coconut wheelie….Mullens a legend and a revolutionary but even he could say the progression of freestyle skate has gone way up he’s a humble god like that.

at 5:47 what was that? it's like he ollied with only his back foot and leg. like he put the board against the same leg he popped with that was the most nuts thing I seen in the whole demo. I've seen people do no-complies similar to that but never a straight up ollie. wow!! just wow!! he was seriously something else! 😮👍🏻

the crowd was so weird they had almost no reaction to the flip tricks which are harder than the grab tricks (which got more attention) considering the board they used to ride

Maybe bcuz they usually seen people doin grab on pool n vert so they must be hyped to see that doin on flatground.
