I've beat you by two years, but yes, there is not a day that goes by where I don't imitate or speak in a Rodney-esque type tone/delivery. Self deprecating humor seems to ring true with most people. As to "one of the few things I love about this era" - I love most everything about this era! Wish I could go back. 1) to be young again. 2) Life was much less complex. Can't stand electronic e-bullshit/hack your identity crap of this world. When I "liked" someone on 1980, I hung out with them!

Rodney....best stand up comedian ever! I'll never forget Ridney delivering a one -liner I heard on the radio while driving my car(past a cemetery, timing was impeccable)... Rodney : "you know you're getting old when you pass by a cemetery and the guys with shovels start chasing ya". It was like he gave me a personal laugh as I was not in a happy mood at the time. He was and will always be my favorite comedian.

Self-deprecating humor - takes a lot of self confidence and inner peace
@julietjowett96786 жыл бұрын
and i believe the converse is also correct - humor at the "expense" of another is rooted in insecurity and inner turmoil - like bullying - just because there's a reason - doesn't make it an excuse - I was watching an interview with Leonard Cohen this morning about Hallelujah - and expected and wanted to a learned discussion with one of the greatest poets of our time about his own interpretation of the words and the reasons that he chose the sounds that he did to match them - instead the interviewer wanted to gossip about other people's performances of the piece - Cohen tried to correct him - the interviewer ignored the remark and this time Cohen was loud and clear in his view - but the interview continued down that path - always trying to get him to be critical and negative - Cohen - always seeing what is true - the beauty and compliment in someone wanting to use his words and music ... in the end when the interview was over - he asked "did you get anything interesting?" and they said yes - and he replied something along the lines of "maybe we should keep going - we might get something interesting" - my oh my - I love a brilliant mind and a way with words - it's not passive aggressive - it is polite and pointed - I wonder if they ever understood what he meant? I doubt it.
