As an owner of both, I can honestly say that it's more a question of budget and target games that you want to play more than anything else. If your not playing steam deck incompatible games, there no reason not to save a few bucks by getting a steam deck. And if your budget allows it, the Ally X is a great device. You can get a fair bit more performance from the Ally X over the steam deck with the right settings and the native support of games for those that do play games with aggressive Anti cheat that doesn't function on Deck the choice kind of makes itself. As for which is actually better, The Ally spec for spec is better. But the Deck has features that just aren't available on any other device right now. You really should find a way to get your hands on them and use them both yourself before making a recommendation though. As your reasoning for why you would choose the ally over the deck immediately misfires when you talk about never getting into using a controller. :/ they're both handhelds with controllers as their primary interface, so neither option solves that problem, and both can be docked for Keyboard and Mouse use, and the steam deck's track pad and additional back paddles expand the input much further for games that don't natively support controllers to be more easily mapped to the controller. You might find in practice that the limitations of the deck are far outweighed by the expanded control capabilities. Or even find that yes your initial choice is better for you due to it's more beefy internals and native windows because you play more games like COD and Overwatch. I myself, I have impulse control problems, and have both an original 512gb Deck, an Original ALLY, a Limited Edition OLED Deck, and an ALLY X. And this is all on top of a host of consoles and other handheld devices. A gaming laptop and desktop. I primarily play using KBD and mouse on PC. But there are a lot of games that I enjoy just using a controller on, because they arent FPS games and don't really benefit from the added precision of a mouse input. But between the Allys or decks, the deck is actually better for FPS games because of the inputs it has, including the capacitive sticks, trackpads and gyro.

Hi there. I would love to actually do hands on reviews but at this stage i just don't have the bucks for it. Escpecially for something like a Steamdeck and an AllyX. Trust me as soon as i am able i will be doing hands on reviews and i am shure i will have a whole lot more to add to what i have to say then as i do belive there is more to the Steamdeck that i would discover if i actually had some playtime with it. In the mean time i decided to add my thoughts based on research though as i love comparing and analysing these units and also engaging with other like minded gamers who are passionate about these. I realize that the type of video's that i make will not be for everyone and that at time's my subjectibve opinion may not be 100% accurate but i do endeavour to take a proper look at a device from the viewpoint of multiple hands on reviewers. i just want to be a part of the conversation, give my opinion and hopefully give a unique angle that will help someone out who is looking into one of these. You have a valid point about the fact that both these units have hands on controlls and that will probably significantly affect my experience with them when i eventually get to have hands on with them. But when i made the comment about not being able to play FPS games with a controller i was actually referring to why i lean more towards PC's intead of consoles and just meant to say that that is part of the reason why i have a prefference for the ALLyX which is a windows based device. If i ever own one i will probaly not play FPS games on it with the controls on the device as i truly suck at it. I would probably use it to play RPG's and other type's of games directly on the device. Thanks for your comprehensive feedback though. I truly do appreciate the time you took to watch and provide your thoughts. I love to hear about the experiences people have with these who actually own one as it gives me a little bit more insight into the units everytime i hear a unique view on them.

@@TheTechUpdate-ui1fh Trust me I understand the struggle, for years I couldn't get my hands on anything like these, before SteamDeck and Ally and the Legion go were a thing the company GPDWin made devices like this but they were always waaay outside my price range and All I could do is read articles and watch reviews. I wish you luck on growing to the point where you can just buy the devices you want to compare and review, or even better, grow enough to start getting review units of your own. :D Good Luck!

ROG ALLY X is the best choice, just dual boot it with bazzite and you have a more powerful steam deck, and a windows handheld when you need it. But if you only want to play indie games and emulate older games, then the SD OLED is probably a better choice. Valve also has a much better track record when it comes to customer support. Either way though you will probably be happy with either one honestly.

I heard about Bazzite and watched some Videos. it looks exactly like Steam OS. So doing that is sdefinitely an option but it would come at a higher cost. I love the Idea of the Ally X thougfh and as i said in the video i am partial to Windows, just can't afford it at the moment. Thanks for watching and for sharing yoyur thoughts.

Which is best if I want to play my steam deck library AND Xbox pc game pass games?
@TheTechUpdate-ui1fh3 ай бұрын
Hi There. I would recomend the Rog Ally X in that case as the steamdeck does not natively support Xbox Game pass. You can apparently run it through a modified microsoft edge browser but that would be a bit of a technical endeavour. If you want a machine that will work with both the steam client and Xbox Games pass straight out of the Box it will be the Asus Rog Ally X. If it is too pricey for you you can also look at the original Asus Rog Ally as it has the same processor, just less ram that runs a bit slower but it is much cheaper now that the X has been released. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching.

@TheTechUpdate-ui1fh3 ай бұрын
The Switch 2 will probably be quite awesome but it will be limited to Nintendo Games. These Devices can play PC Games and Emulate everything from Old school Nintendo SNES, N64, Gamecube, DS and Switch. It wll also be able to play games that lauchend on the older Sega and Sony consoles. Up to some PS3 games probably. In addition the Ally X is a full windows handheld that can function as a portable PC so these do have more flexibility in terms of what they can do compared to the Switch. If the Switch 2 has the specs it is rumoured to have, it should be quite awesome though. Thanks for watching.
