Zak Starkey was using them when I saw the Who in Oct of 22. If I had to guess it’s probably just because they had to turn down their volume as a band to accommodate the orchestras and also because Roger and Pete just can’t handle the noise anymore.

@@SuperSuperbowl1 Any of the videos posted on KZbin with an orchestra seemed to verify what you said but you could barely hear Zak and pounding drums have always been at the heart of the Who’s music. Regular drums, miking of same and plexiglass shields like many bands use would solve that problem.
