I am a Who fan for over 30 years. And this version of this song performed at this time of their career might be one of the most poignant moments Pete and Roger EVER had! Pete is "the brain" of the Who. He is the soul of the band. But without Roger fronting the songs, conveying them as if he wrote them, they don't have the power that Pete intended them to have. This shows that right here! Unbelievable moment!!

There is a point in the song when Pete looks over at Roger with a smile and a nod of approval and 40+ years of history between these two surfaces...a special moment.

Pete Townsend is first and foremost one of rock's greatest poets. Roger Daltrey himself is a genius in how he breathes life into Pete's songs.

According to Pete, this performance is the moment where he looked at Roger and said to himself, "Yeah, I could do another album with Roger singing stuff like this." Thus began the recording of _Endless Wire._

This reminds me of being a young boy and seeing Elvis for the first time, not the fat, fading Elvis but the young, vibrant, symbol of rebelliousness that shook the world, musically and culturally - can't imagine what Pete, Roger, Lennon, Bowie, Dylan, Elton and countless others felt when they saw him too.

the truth is that Pete (his own words) was totally touched by Roger's singing and playing that he just wanted to listen to him. He said that this was the time he decided to go on with Roger, to go on with The Who, with a new studio album (Endless Wire) despite the deaths of Keith and John... You can find it on the "Amazing Journey" documentary ;-) LONG LIVE ROCK

As an over 50 years fan, I can say there is much more to The Who than musical credits of American tv series. Aside their masterpieces there are gems like this, where Roger gives voice out to Pete emotions with such a great talent. Pete is by far a better composer than many rock/pop musicians, including Jagger/Richards. Rolling Stones make shows, The Who make music. That’s all the difference and why The Who is by far the best rock n’roll band.

Theres certain songs in this world. In our lives. That we stumble across and or that are shown to us. That. Truly just move us to tears. Because we so strongly feel that we can truly relate to the words being put forth. And share the pain or joy expressed. For me. This is one of those songs.

a few years back I woke up in the middle of the night, no reason other than that's what I kept doing at the time, and I was flipping channels on the tv. Over the years these guys have fought like schoolyard kids ... because they're brothers. The love has ALWAYS shown through the songs, the writing of them and the performing of them. Now that the years are behind them and much more of the marble has been chipped away from their statues, the majority of what is left is love. I've heard Pete say he doesn't want to tour ... but Roger does, because Roger knows they are carrying the tablets to the people and celebrating the genius of his best friend. So ... Pete goes on the road for his friend. All friends should be able to put aside their petty disagreements and have pride in each other as these two geniuses show us every time they play a song.

After reading the many responses to this timeless song I must add that, to me, this song represents youthful innocence - that all too fleeting time in life when we dream and believe we can be anything we want to be. But this song goes a bit further than that - it also represents the affirmation of a long and heartfelt friendship between two wonderful human beings who happen to be phenomenal musicians. It is no accident that this song is so reminiscent of the great Who classics.

I think this song is a really good "coming of age song" perfectly waking retrospective feelings for a band thats been around for half a century, that has done it all, and a great finish from blues to the wildest embodiment of rock n roll ever, to a beautiful song, played by the only two remnants of what can be righteously the greatest Rock Band ever.
