I saw Roger Leonard's victory over Clint Jackson at the 1978 National AAU in Bilox, MS. A well earned victory. I agree with your assessment of Roger Leonard's strength and weakness as a professional.

Ask anyone from the DMV , who was involved in boxing during late - 60's and 70's ...(they'll tell you about Roger "The Dodger" Leonard) . Roger was a bad mfcker - ( but at 2.am on Saturday mornings ,Roger was in the club chasing tail ), while his little brother Ray was jogging on the track field behind their house in Palmer Park .

That's all I have on Roger. I think maybe one of his amateur fights with Clint Jackson may be floating around but I don't have it...He was a capable fighter.

@@RichtheFightHistorian I saw Johnny Nelson this morning I just got back from a run he's still in good condition he was either a middle or cruiser weight during the 90s maybe early 2000s , he's based in London I think I thought has he ran all this way to where I am 😲 up the levels lol cross training time.

I was in attendance at these fights, and while many remember the Duran v Leonard fight, and my lasting memory is a sad one as Cleveland Denny would pass away a few days after his fight with Gaetan Hart on the same night. I was only 20 years old. Clyde was near the end in this fight, but Roger looked good.

Hello, could you make a video about Billy Roberts? This guy was 16 and 0 when he lost to "Cassius Clay",and after that he met all the main fighters of the 60s I mean ALL, but kepts loosing but still getting fights with the big ones, ending 23 and 22! Curious destiny. Tks for your attention.
