I don't even own an MV. I just love tear-down videos. One thing I can tell everyone is, TAKE PICTURES of EVERYTHING, so you know how it all goes back together and in what orientation everything plugs back in. I replaced the pads on my MC-909 and the pics were very helpful. Great job keeping the old gear alive!

Good advice, regarding the pictures. That's why I did this video too. To have it all documented. Thanks for the thumbs up!

Good tutorial. My tap tempo button broke recently so I’m faced with the task of getting under the hood to fix it. I’m going to use this video as my reference. Sounds like your style of music in the background. Nice mellow beat.

I wouldnt Even bother with the tap tempo button, never use it and you can set tempo in different ways without it

I replaced these faders with rotary.The video is great!I also loved how easy it was to change the faders on pioneer DJ mixing consoles.It is a pity that this is not done so quickly on MV, you have to disassemble everything. and there you always take off a small strip of the case and change it
@theMIDImaniac
@theMIDImaniac 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks a lot! Indeed the disassembly is quite impressie but doable. Changing faders on Pioneer consoles is indeed much easier. More focussed on changing.

little air compressor can and keep it clean always did the trick for me.. ( also, never leave your sliders all the way down, keep it at equal.. and keep the air can ready) the Tear Down was Ultra awesome to watch, plus you kind of see what this machine is made of!!!

Did you only replace the ones that jumped. Also mine my jog wheel if I jog down and go past something I want to load by five items and turn the jog the other way it moves the highlight up two times then continues to go down Evan tho I’m jogging up? That 100% the jog wheel mechanism

My sliders jump and also a bunch of other buttons randomly actvate on their on. Mostly when Im in song sequence or if I leave it powered on for an extended amount of time. Im scared to take mine apart. Does anyone still service these?

yeah i have had to do extensive work on an 8000 because of water damage. got everything back to full life except for the pad sensor board.... which i got from roland for super cheap. they shipped me out a brand new board. i was thinking of replacing those faders too, i have done the same on other equipment... i just haven't been motivated because i haven't really been in the MV zone for quite a long time now.
@theMIDImaniac
@theMIDImaniac 3 жыл бұрын
Wow....water damage is serious damage. Great that you've received a new board. I can imagine your feeling about being motivated. If the urge is not there, then don't start. Good luck anyway!

@@theMIDImaniac yes, i stripped down the entire machine and washed every board in the bath tub with alcohol, then i rinsed it off with distilled water and let it dry. it worked perfectly. I made a lot on the MV however i came to that machine from the MPC... while they may not be as powerful, they are quicker machines and when you don't need the very in depth unique MV features it can make life a bit easier.

Great video man. Wondering if you might know the solution to an issue im having with mine currently. I am not getting any audio output . Ive checked the volume knob for master , ive checked the mixer. Not muted. Worked fine yesterday but today when i powered on i am unable to hear anything. I have reset the settings back to factory and still same outcome. Im wondering at this point if it bugged out and switched output or something if thats even possible or if its a capacitor issue . I just don't want to open it again if i don't have to . Any tips for what i should try to troubleshoot? Thanks
@theMIDImaniac
@theMIDImaniac Ай бұрын
Hey! I can remember something like this too. Check if you have set Digital Out on ON. Do you have output on Headphones? Try to start with holding F5 to start without loading a project. It must be a simple setting for sure...
@42TY.Gaming
@42TY.Gaming Ай бұрын
@theMIDImaniac I don't even know how to set digital out on . I did figure it out . Somehow the headphone cable going into the headphones was plugged all the way in but wasn't lol , it went in another mm or 2 . I didn't bother trying speakers again but at least now I am hearing audio again. Thanks for the reply.

Hahaha, opening is just removing some screws but I understand that it takes some guts to go further. Changed my pants multiple times hahaha. How to keep the dust away? I swear on compressed air. A cloth dipped in 96% alcohol and the air is a golden couple. Hope this helps!

Wow! great work Roger...but that’s an awful lot of deconstruction! My MV sliders seem ok but definitely might need this tutorial one day so thanks. ( that said my vs 2480 has some bad sliders don’t suppose youve ever come across replacements for them? Whenever ive searched it seems they were a unique Roland part & nothing available as replacement ?)....keep up the great work.
@theMIDImaniac
@theMIDImaniac 3 жыл бұрын
Hey Vince! Sorry to read about the bad sliders on your 2480. I haven't seen replacement either. Better to look out for junk/repair/2nd cheap. I see those 2480's sometimes for 400€ or a 2400 for 250€. But still serious money. It was really fun to do this repair. Also scary but it went fine :D

A lot of work Roger, tell me how many screws did you have left over when it was all assembled? ;-)
@theMIDImaniac
@theMIDImaniac 3 жыл бұрын
Let me honest with you :D NONE! I all those years of tearing down units I've learned to save the screws separately. Also I know now more the difference between those small screws. They look all the same but in the end they're a bit different and that helps a lot. But I do have a lot of spare screws from other projects hahaha
