+bradwolf07 Actually, he understands this specific movie didn't need it, not his brother though. This can be seen in another video where he, and his brother expressed their opinions on this movie. I guess he want his brother's opinions to be represented as well and that's why his *Critic* persona talks about that. It's not the 1st time I've noticed that. I disagree with Doug's brother, this movie doesn't need that intro.

Lu1z 4 3v3r And the voices Yeah but each of those established something to learn/fear about him. His appearance here is largely for fan service, so none of the few scenes he’s given add anything beyond “Darth Vader’s in the movie”
@matthewmuir8884
@matthewmuir8884 4 жыл бұрын
@@cartoonnetworkdisneyxdsupe6864 Actually, his scenes do add a fair bit. His first scene, the one between him and Krennic, not only reminds the audience how desperately the empire was trying to keep the Death Star secret, but also highlights that Krennic is 1% evil and 99% hot gas; he's nothing to the Empire; just another replaceable director. His second scene, Vader vs Rebel soldiers, establishes more reasons to fear Vader. In the OT, Vader never really bothered fighting anyone unless they were Jedi; he usually walked into the scene after the firefight was over. This scene establishes exactly why he doesn't give a bother: all these soldiers, with guns pointed at him in a narrow hallway, are nothing to him. It highlights exactly why a Jedi is needed to defeat Vader and Palpatine.

Well I agree the CGI is impressive(and trust me, I hate CGI when is overused). Tarkin have a lot of screentime and the CGI tend to be iper-realistic NOT realistic, CGI Tarkin have a lot of details more than a normal person and some weird facial expressions that Cushing never had. It's like the difference between a Fiammingo Potrait and a good caricature: sure the Fiammingo Potraits are amazing, but over detailed, there's always something fake(an expression or even a tiny layer of color). A good caricature is simple but you can say "OK! It's totally him\her". I'm not saying that a CGI model must be a caricature but it must be IN BETWEEN those 2 examples.

I may be looking too deep into it, but here is what I think. No need to have experience with girls to talk like normal person, this line is just strange for any standard, it is like if we are chatting about fruits and I say something stupid like "I hate bananas, it is floppy and sticky and when I accidentally sit on it the pulps get everywhere", I just want to highlight how awkward this line is. It is also the writing around this line that made it worse, I think if Padme or Anakin immediately acknowledges how bad that line is like "In my experience that is the worse pick up line I have ever heard/said" or something, then makes a joke about it and both of them have a laugh, it would have been cute and they probably would have had better chemistry. However in the movie, Padme just looked at Anakin with an expressionless face, kissed him as if it was really charming, this shows that whoever wrote this totally thought that this stupid "rough sand to soft skin" thing is legitimately romantic, which defeats your claim that this line is supposed to be awkward. You are entitle to your opinion buddy, but I think this is terrible screenplay.

I bet your friends don't like some of the same food you do, and does that mean you break off ties with them? Nope. Also, to be fair, the CGI was very impressive. And they even admitted it. Actually, somehow, the lack of backstory of those characters (I mean, I've seen the movie several times, and I can't remember anybody's name) makes it kinda easier to identify with them... They could be anybody. They are nameless freedom fighters, part of something bigger, who will give their life for the cause, and who will be remembered by no one. I also really like the fact that they show the rebellion for what it really is : a bunch of terrorists and guerilla fighters, killers, spies... Yeah, they're the good guys, but they're no knights in shining armor. They're bandits. Oddly, I think this is my favourite SW movie of all... Except for Forrest Whitaker. I really didn't get what he was trying to do here.

My dad didn't either. We were just watching the movie. Seems like one of those cases where cynics are undone by their own cynicism. Far as Vader's hallway scene...fucking AMAZING! I loved the fact that for once in forever, Vader was SCARY. Like, really spooky. In that scene he almost seemed more like a horror-movie slasher than anything else. Show THIS Vader, studio! I frickin LOVE this scary motherfucker! THIS Vader is dark...someone you could REALLY imagine people being terrified of. Not the everexsposed cartoon Vader from the prequels. Also, people aren't supposed to know about the things happening in this movie. Vader sees it as background events- not even background events- daily life. It's supposed to be an ordinary day. The empire doesn't even know what information is getting leaked- for all they know, the rebels are stealing Darth Vader's grocery list. But they know it's still a fairly important grocery list- like Vader has eggs and Cap'n Crunch on there, and he really doesn't want to forget to get either. So yeah. It makes sense.Because it's a heist. Not a central attack on the Death Star.

Chris doesn't understand the limited use of Vader is one of the few things this movie did right. The true villain in this movie should have just been the Death Star, which it was. Yeah, you could argue General McEvil and Tarkin are the villains and they are, but the true threat is what it was in the original Star Wars: the Death Star. Vader was overhyped by marketing people because he's Vader but they had the perfect amount of him; no brief, one scene where he just makes a cameo and no plot where he's the full on villain. Edwards did what Lucas did in the original three: he made Vader a piece of a bigger story instead of being the story. He's just a dude in a Halloween costume.
@wintertodt6602
@wintertodt6602 7 жыл бұрын
I totally agree. He wasn't in this because vader isn't thrown at every little issue that pops up and the two times he showed up was when Krenick requested an audience and when they became aware of the theft of the death star plans. And his appearances in 4-6 were due to Luke being a very serious threat as well as one of the only force users so vader had to deal with him frequently.
@DJStout914
@DJStout914 7 жыл бұрын
Vader was also obsessed with finding Luke once he found out from a bounty hunter who he knew he could trust that the pilot who blew up the Death Star was named Luke Skywalker. That's why in V why Vader is so quick to say, "that's the planet where the base is" when talking about Hoth. You're 100 percent on the money about Vader not being thrown at every little issue. At this point when the Rebellion has yet to truly become a threat and the Empire is doing so well, the dude is just fine with being in his rejuvenation tank. It's not until after where Palpy starts sending him on errands.

***** But why would he be tasked with dealing with a bunch of nobody's? The only time it made sense for him to be there was when they found out about the theft of the death star plans. He had a major role in 4-6 because the MC was his son and they were both force users. The director said they wanted this movie to not have as much mysticism and be more gritty and realistic and Vader is the antithesis of that with his ancient religion and what not.

I don't know if anyone's mentioned it but there's ONE scene with Darth Vader that I'd like to see make it into a movie and that's the one from the comic book where the rebels have him surrounded and they go "Surrender! You're Surrounded!" and all he says is "All I am surrounded by is Fear, and Dead Men." And then ignites his lightsaber... that would probably be the epitome of Vader badassery... Though the original meeting between him and Boba Fett (as the bounty hunter) where they get into a fight would probably ALSO be pretty badass (also from the comics). Though I'm not sure they can do this since I'm pretty sure there's something in the cartoons where they meet...

It was impeccable when he was standing still at a distance, and especially when his back was turned and his face was reflected in the window. The more it moved around though, the more unnatural motions, CGI 'shininess' and odd coloration you could pick out. Having a flesh and blood person in the same frame of reference was also a bad call. If they would have shot scenes with it far away, only getting close ups from the rear and showing his face only in reflections... it would have been neigh unnoticable. However they put in a lot of work in CGI Tarkin, and I can at least see why they wanted to show it off, even if it did detract from the film.

ryder mccall we didnt need to know how han and chewie met each other cause this characters were pretty made as the characters. we could realise their relations, we could see how much they are friends and brothers in arms, we could feel that they know each other very long time only because we see how they behave to each other even if dont know how they met in the context of movies. Thats what mean a good film with a good characters. Thats what we cant say about Rogue one movie and about any of the characters on it, especially about blind monk and his friend. Only stupidest idiot will think that rogue one is a good film. Its an awful film. The only reason why this film was made its to earn money. A lot of money. Very a lot of money. And they get what they wanted. And you idiots help them to reach their goal by watching their shitty movies.

Rogue One was a much better Star Wars movie than The Force Awakens and the prequels. TFA was a rehash of other star wars movies, especially A New Hope. TFA was a 100% marketing job, since disney only calculated what story elements would turn a profit and made the movie in accordance with this. And it had a Mary Sue lead lady and the worst villian in any sci fi or fantasy movie (seriously: that emo kid had years of jedi and dark side training, and yet he is defeated by a girl who just learned about lightsabers and the force that morning). And the prequels are terrible. Rogue One was great: it had an original story and its leading lady was relateable: she had a complicated family-history and she is equal to the other rebels (and not a perfect super-being like Rey). And Rogue One ties so very well into the classical trilogy and not the later shit we got (TFA + prequels). We now have a star wars movie meant for grown ups. And that is cool.

Soren Sorensen hey quick defense of kylo ren. he didn't have that much training. he had a bit with Luke and then Luke's academy was destroyed and they specifically say in the movie that he hasn't completed his training with snoke. having said that you also have to remember that there's no other force users he could have battled. let's say he's 20 years old in the movie. he destroyed the academy 5 years before and he's never fought another force user since you really think he's not gonna be a little inexperienced? that like saying you train yourself to use a sword and then hanging it on a wall because there's no other sword users in the entire country. why would he be a supremely skilled force user when no other force user has given him chance to practice?

Tarkin was in the film more than Vader because Tarkin was in command. Vader was just the muscle, the go-get-shit-done guy. Watch Episode 4 again and you'll see high-ranking officers mock him and his religion openly. Vader orders around the Stormtroopers and that's it. He is subservient to everyone else, essentially. He is not the main villain, just the most popular.
@Snakie747
@Snakie747 7 жыл бұрын
Sorta disagree with you here. In A New Hope we see Vader first and he's also the one who's in direct conflict with Luke at the end. He sets the tone for the movie and comes to represent the "Empire" in the eyes of the audience. The fact that he isn't "first in command" doesn't really mean he's not the main villain. He was the most popular because he was the most memorable, and the filmakers clearly intended for him to be. Its certainly true that he's the undisputed main villain in Empire moreso than he is in A New Hope, though. He is seen with a lot more authority in that movie, and comes into direct conflict with all of our main characters in that movie.
@anthonyw6895
@anthonyw6895 7 жыл бұрын
Snakie no not really, tarkin is the main villain of a new hope, Vader is literally tarkin's bitch in ANH, so why would he be one of the main villains in rogue one and just be cast aside, it makes no sense continuity wise
@chsparkle
@chsparkle 7 жыл бұрын
How is he Tarkin's bitch? If you mean when Tarkin told him to stop choking that man, Vader wasn't bothered. He was making a point, he wasn't out of control, he didn't care that Tarkin spoke. Tarkin doesn't even jump in straight away, he lets Vader make a point and wants to move on. Tarkin is in charge of the Death star and Vader isn't bothered about the decisions he's making, like destroying Alderann. He still does his own thing, like letting Leia and the others escape so they can be tracked. He's more a man of action, one reason he goes into battle around the death star while Tarkin is on board making decisions for the base.
@chsparkle
@chsparkle 7 жыл бұрын
I thought Tarkin was in it more because the Death Star was very much his project. He was in command so it makes more sense he's about. He was more involved with it's building while Vader was doing more active things around the Empire. Also, we only see one officer actually get bold enough to mock Vader and he's pretty swiftly put in his place. Vader doesn't even loose his temper, he just calmly goes 'so, what were you saying' while making a very deliberate point.
