Creeds up until around 2015 where much denser and fuller smelling than what we get now. All of them smell super thinned out now and lacking the structure and backbone they used to have. Also they have replaced the natural ambergris that used to be used heavily in the majority of their scents, they replaced that with ambrox. Try and get a sample of Aventus from 2010-2013. The scent will blow your pants off with how different and complex it once was. The Aventus you have smelled today is a completely different scent than it was during those 3 years. Again great video and thanks for doing these

Thanks for the explanation! Vintage batch decants might be challenging to find but I’ll keep my eyes open 😉

Completely agree. I have bottles of aventus & GIT 2014. I have 2019 & 2023 aventus decants. You could argue they are now completely different scents in the dry down. I’ve been saying for years I no longer get the ambergris and no real oak moss which they can use but the IFRA compliant is more expensive. The addictive salty ambergris that lingered on clothes for days was creeds signature. There is no substitute. Unfortunately whether this is a raw material issue or a cost cutting issue it’s such a shame. Those 2010-2014 aventus bottles are an experience like no other. The best fragrance.

Here in England we take the appellation of the gentlemen very seriously! But they’re both something special, though in a pinch I’d choose elysium. Thanks for this Daniel, great to see you’re going from strength to strength.

Thanks for the continuous support! Didn’t know you were English, hope I didn’t offend anyone 😅

Thanks for the video. Creed Aventus is what got me into fragrances in the early 2010s, I sampled the entire range during that time including GIT which I enjoyed however I was too young (18) and broke to buy any. I’ve resampled in 2023 GIT, aventus, millisime and silver mountain water and they are totally different. I’m almost certain 10 years ago had real ambergris and it was lovely but now they all have this signature overwhelming ambroxan like musk. It’s completely unbearable to my nose. It’s funny how elysium is described as a ‘blue’ fragrance in some vids and reviews and I love it simply because I hate blue fragrances and this is more of a green aromatic take on it. I totally get the old man vibe, it reminds me of my grandad and is precisely the reason I want a bottle! It’s also signature scent worthy which is challenging to find as a doctor ( fragrance at work is a bit of an issue when you really want to wear an amouage but you’re seeing patients!). Hate both brands in 2023 but Elysium really ticks a lot of boxes for me except price. Roja has a terre d’hermes clone called oligarch which is literally 90% the same. This is more like a 50% similar vibe but I get what you’re saying.

@@theworkingkitchen7325 thanks for the great comment! Pity what happened to Creed but I’m definitely not going to go hunt down old bottles. Elysium is undoubtedly a great fragrance, overpriced to oblivion but actually really high quality; I don’t think it’s blue at all, I also get green aromatic 👍

Creed also gives bottles as "gifts" and has for years, so that's something to consider. Great description of Elysium though. Interestingly, I think the parfum cologne is an edp. From what I've smelled of it on others, it's quite ephemeral, but lovely for the first hour or two. Already gifted a clone of it twice and might even do it a third time. 😆 To me, it's just not an expensive formula.

As mentioned, I’m not really sure which version I have, could be the Parfum version for all I know (I don’t even have any reference) 😅 But yes, it’s definitely overpriced, it’s good but not mind boggling good.

Parfum version is more woody and sharp citrus. The parfum cologne has a more fruity and soft and cloudy feeling. Parfum is sharper. @@SeldomlyOften

Sultanate of Oman by Roja will blow your mind, if you ever have the chance check it out. PS, Elysium parfum is a slam dunk .

I definitely want to try something else as I’m thirsty for more but they are not super easy/cheap to come by 👍
@ChristianAndrew1.44 ай бұрын
@@SeldomlyOften I know it, way too expensive for me to pick up full bottles of. They used to sell the Sultanate of Oman in an 8ml for $75 right from Roja which was less painless but I cant find it in that size anymore. Its without a doubt the most unique scent I've smelled and calling it nuclear is an understatement .... well worth it no doubt.

Green Irish Tweed just smells like cool water to me
@SeldomlyOften3 ай бұрын
I wore this a couple days ago, really showered it on to get the full effect. Really heavy on the ambroxan or whatever it is, really perfumy. It's just not for me.
@dreday777643 ай бұрын
I’m the same. It’s just not for me but hear people raving on about it.
@deluxelex90564 ай бұрын
Sounds like you have a recent batch of Green Irish Tweed, being weak. I have an old batch that has decent performance. Elysium to me seems more youthful and GIT more appropriate for mature folk.
@SeldomlyOften4 ай бұрын
The sample has no date and no batch code but I also assumed so, it’s just too weak.

That Creed dry down always reminds me of deodorant spray and I get it in almost all their fragrances.

Yeah the dry down is similar to Viking, kind of has an Old Spice thing going on.
