Chris, I know this video was a while a go, but I thought I would add my 2 cents. I am 62 years old and own a 1500 Goldwing. I use mine to run to the grocery store a lot of times. I live in a very small town so when I have two grocery carts full of grocery bags and the clerk is pushing one of the carts, the other clerks stop what they are doing and all want to see how all 8 to 10 bags are going to fit in my Goldwing. Well, they do and a lot of the people in the small lot just stare and look amazed. I like the way you presented this video unlike a lot of other KZbinrs. You used both hands, whereas; a lot of KZbinrs try to hold their cell phone with one hand and tie something down with the other - it never works!! Great job and I will now subscribe to your channel. Clear, concise and very well presented...

Roxic12 Bungee cords will work, but the Rok straps are better, cinching down a load has now become easier. BTW whats Americade?
@roxic12129 жыл бұрын
Chris Caliente Americade is a week long motorcycle rally in upstate, NY. that is non-branded,. Meaning, its not a rally only for Harley or BMW's but a rally where every motorcycle is welcomed.

Another great video. I love the ROK straps, stopped using bungee cords and nets years ago. I carry an extra set incase I find something neat to buy. From personal experience I route at least one thought the handles on a bag, I have had soft bags on the luggage rack like you're using come out at hi-way speeds.
@Robnord19 жыл бұрын
Cool... I'm going to get some of those straps. Thanks for showing your regular carry items. I ride small roads out in the sticks often, and am making a 'get home bag' I can carry if I have to hike out or spend a night in the woods. Ya never know.

jason Mckain Wow! New Zealand, that's a long way from America, but thanks for the invite Jason. I am so compassionate about my bike that I have an old saying, "take my wife, but I'm keeping the Goldwing." I often joke about it but thanks for watching feel free to subscribe, and leave plenty of feed back, thanks Jason.

I've always heard that Goldwings have a huge amount of storage, but those side cases look deceivingly larger on the inside. And with the weight of the engine so low on the GW, I have no doubt it still handles great even loaded up.
@chriscaliente50339 жыл бұрын
gentlemansnine The Goldwing has a rear hydraulic suspenion. If you load down the Goldwing with a heavy passenger or a heavy load, it has a button you press that will stiffen, and raise up the rear up several inches. The bike still handles very well, the 6 cyclinder engine is a beast.

Thanks for the share, wish this product was out when I was out solo riding, Now with mama on the back we tow a trailer but I definitely see myself buying these to help secure items to the luggage rack on the bike and trailer. Love your videos even though I don't own a Wing. Honda PC800 and HD Ultra Classic w/ venture craft trailer.

I was about to ask if you were a minimalist, a camper with a tent, or a Motel 6'er. Some people enjoy pitching a tent, and setting up a camp stove, sleeping on the ground, or on an air mattress. And some, prefer a comfortable bed,, a warm shower, a little tv, and a convenient restaurant nearby at the end of a long day on the road. Still others, will buy something like a Bunkhouse tent trailer. In the end, it's all about the bike, your day, and the ride.

+Thomas Nessman No camping for me, I'm a hotel guy.

When I was younger, I had myself a two man, orange nylon tent, pitched into the wind at night to keep it billowed out, allowing more room, a sleeping bag, and a sterno stove to warm up meals.My first "cruising" bike was a 1969 Honda CL-175. Rode from Lansing, Michigan to Stratford, Ontario, on one trip; Lansing to Minneapolis on another, and a short one, Lansing to Chicago. It had a homemade, wood plank luggage rack, secured to the bike with steel strapping. The top highway cruising speed was about 70, and you lost all feeling in the behind after 100 miles. Old times.
@chriscaliente50339 жыл бұрын
That was some serious riding.

+Chris Caliente There's a first bike for everyone who rides, and you ride what you have. And when time and money permit, you can work your way up. There's a few states I haven't been to yet, by motorcycle, but being retired now, visiting the remainder is simply a matter of that folding green stuff, and health. I wish you and Mike, the best of health, and many more years of the best riding possible.

Nice vid Chris... I really like the rock straps and your bags even match the Goldwing. I've never seen or heard of the magic tank. Is it just a small plastic bottle of fuel? Do you purchase it with fuel already in it? Also been thinking of getting that flag mount. How do you feel about that flag mount? Now where you going with all that stuff 😉 stay safe...
@chriscaliente50339 жыл бұрын
***** Another fellow rider gave it to me as a gift, its fuel that in the bottle that doesn't require venting, I really haven't had a chance to read the bottle, but if you run out of gas, pour it in the tank.
@chriscaliente50339 жыл бұрын
***** I love the flag mount, it just slips on the antenna, and screw tighten. It small pole has a screw off tip so you can change the flag out. The load of bags is for my job, I was going to drop it off.

Greetings from the state of Illinois (Chicago area) where helmet use is by choice, NOT by law (let those who ride decide!), which leaves me with a bit more space in the trunk of my '02 Wing (LOL). For the record, I have had good fortune with my bike in that I have not had to replace ANY parts on it in the last 13 years (and almost 100k!) with the exception of the normal "consumables" (tires, brake pads, light bulbs & regular oil changes). One thing is for sure, while a Honda Goldwing is definitely NOT a beginner's bike (I've been riding for over 40 years), it is certainly one of the finest quality machines I've ever thrown a leg over. And no, I do NOT work for Honda. (smile) Rock steady, ride safe, and read often!

Yeah you'd have to be a non rider to care about your safety. I guarantee I put on more miles than 90% of the people you ride with or you. Are you one of those idiots that wears full leathers and no helmet. I love laughing at you posers. You're an idiot.
@roadieric94728 жыл бұрын
"Let those who ride decide" is our motto here & it seems to work well, because smart riders strongly believe in the freedom of choice, which includes not sitting smugly behind a keyboard spewing misinformed judgment on fellow riders, regardless of their own lawful (keyword) choices. 💯

Chris Caliente Another great video. I wondered if the Goldwing would handle a lot of stuff. Does the Goldwing handle better or worse with the wind when you have the bags strapped down like that when going down the highway at highway speeds, or is there some wind buffeting to where it makes the handling of the front steering seem a little shaky like it did for me on my trip to Nebraska last year?
@chriscaliente50339 жыл бұрын
renegadebiker24 What type of bike were you riding to Nebraska? I have not had any trouble with the wind on my Goldwing even when its loaded down with bags, If you notice in my videos when the camera is facing me, it looks like the wind is not really blowing, even at 80mphs. The design of the Goldwing almost puts you in a bubble, and blows the around you. Here is an old video i made carrying bags. kzbin.info/www/bejne/pmrWp5Z8Yr-HhrM

Chris, I subscribe and really enjoy your videos. I ride a 2012 Harley FLHTK, but have been thinking of getting a GW. Heck I started on a Honda in 1969. I'm not getting into your business, but are you married and does your wife ride with you, if so those bags on the seat is going to be a problem. This is my 5th Harley and my wife isn't too keen on me getting the Wing. I have also been looking at the Victory. As long as we are riding it doesn't matter what we ride. Keep up the good work.

+Freddie Ray I began riding when I was 15 on a 1957 Lambretta 150cc scooter, moved up to a 1969 Honda CL 175, and much, much later three Harley Davidsons, and five Gold Wings. The current bike is a 2006 HD Ultra Classic Peace Officer Edition. The wife and I do want to make a ride to Gettysburg, Fall River, and Philadelphia to visit Eastern States Penitentiary. this next year. We have the time being retired, but like anything else a person wants to do, it generally takes a constant flow of that folding green stuff.
