I like the clip track trick. Can't believe I missed that.

If you use all internal tracks with all clip it really allows insane diversity per clip for only “8 tracks “. That’s the strongest part of this machine in my opinion 😊

Layering on the 707 can be dangerous as you can run into the polyphony limits very quickly. And watch out for synth sounds with Unison as they can eat up a lot of voices as well.
@toddsmithmusic31723 ай бұрын
This focuses on the sample / drum part which layers are different. Synth parts you need to be smart with your choices if your going full internal. If you send a few parts out that can open voices for other parts which is awesome. Thanks for pointing out the synth parts are drastically different than the sample / drum section. Hope you have a good day

@@toddsmithmusic3172 thank you that makes sense. I wrote this when the video had not yet ended. There is also a possibility to layer drum sounds on a single pad with the sound edit function, up to 4 samples and 9 think you can also set at which velocity levels they are activated. If that is done as well then it can add up. It happened to me with a sound pack from Roland cloud.

Good video Todd 👍. You're definitely in control of that beast now! Some people say the ZEN-Core products are all the same but it's interesting to see the similarities and differences of the way Roland built the system around the ZEN-Core sound engine compared to the AE-30 wind synth. Do you notice the same thing compared to the Juno-X?

I have 707 and X both have zen core. X has multiple engines like the classic Juno, Juno X , and various other Roland engines. Then you can buy or use subscription models to get other engines like Jupiter, 101 and others. Talking about just the pure.zen core engine they all share, they present them in different ways. The 707 zen core engine is a groove box layout. The zen core engine on the X is a keyboard , 4 synth part / 1 drum part live performance layout. Focusing on layering, splits and arpeggios.

I have to say, I don't own the MC-707 and will probably not buy that instrument in the near future, but I found myself being able to use some of the layering tips and so forth in my DAW. For some odd reason I have always felt that the snare and the clap need to be separate entities. But after this video I got the idea to play around more.
@toddsmithmusic31723 ай бұрын
100% honest the second sound could of been a different snare and not clap. Either way the idea is the same. Finding sounds that layer together well. You can use settings to help the “merge” in sound. Layering is HUGE overall in electronics and drums is no exception

@@toddsmithmusic3172 thanks for the tips and pointers, Todd. They work just fine outside the 707 setting.

You seem to call Clips ‘Scenes’; they aren’t. Scenes are a collection of individual Clips.
@toddsmithmusic3172Ай бұрын
Clips get put into scenes. It’s labeled scene on the machine. If I called the individual clips a “scene” , that was a mistake.
@philyoung5434Ай бұрын
@@toddsmithmusic3172 My comment was aimed more at the beginners to the 707 that your video is for to help them understand that Clips and Scenes are different entities. it helps to treat individual Clips as a building block and scenes as a a collection of blocks stuck together.
