Imo it has the best sequencer for *recording live polyphonic playing* out of any hardware device I've used. I've only used the mc101 but same sequencer. For "guitar solo" style complex playing, it captures every note perfectly and accurately. Only a DAW can compete, or maybe a modern MPC, but I haven't tried one yet. It's not the easiest to edit notes after the fact, but every other hardware device I've used runs into resolution limitations, unless I bump the bpm way high up. My gold standard for hardware midi recording by a long shot. Edit: great jam by the way. Sorry I got lost in the sermon 😅

I found the best way to edit single notes after playing poly sequences is just adjust the start time of notes that sound off. You can really make things fit but have a almost "swing" feel to the notes. It's fast and sounds good if the notes are semi close to correct on input

100%. You can capture also pitch bends, cc changes, etc.

Great music as always, Todd. You really highlight how amazing the MC-707 is. Can't wait till you have the space to bring more gear into the mix to compliment the 707. I wish I had the room for an MC-707. My setup is jam packed with gear and even after going vertical I didn't have room for a 707 so I got it's baby brother the MC-101 to take up the last bit of space I had available. It's not quite the beast that the 707 is, but it is truly capable and a lot of fun to work with. Your music always inspires me to keep creating so I'm definitely a huge fan of what you do.

Can the 101 have different sounds per scene of the same track like 707? If it can honestly almost all my songs are 4 tracks or less with adding sampling tracking and external midi. They did such a great job with this machine. I do plan to add the Kobol back in the mix very soon

@@toddsmithmusic3172 I honestly don't know if the 101 has this capability. I've only had my 101 for a few months and I have not given it much time since I'm working with other gear mostly for an album of my own. I will need to make time to explore the little MC before my GAS kicks in again and I acquire another bit of gear I don't have room for. That Waldorf Iridium Core is calling my name a lot lately. Damn this GAS!

I have a love hate relationship with mine. The sound annoys me sometimes so needs a lot of tweaking. But it's a good unit and nice to even use as a sound module. I contacted them about the sampler with some features to add and they did get back to me at least.

The presets are my love / hate aspect. Some good ones but lots of them I’ll never use. Once you pick something close to what you want and start tweaking things get really good fast tho
