Great to see this in Logic also, it works fine in Live for me but your video clarified why there are 20 inputs from the MC-707. 2x8=16, + 2x external in, + stereo mix! Now I have 2 more inputs ! Thanks man

Track fx will be recorded, but the Master fx, reverb, and delay will only be recorded through the mix out.

hi unit e , thank you for all the helpful videos , I am heaving a problem to record midi notes into logic , I am getting the double note sound and can't find "LOCAL OFF" on the mc 707 settings , how can I record midi pad notes without getting this midi feedback loop sound ? need your help here thank you

Followed these directions, and it worked perfectly, except that it didn't record the 707's effects. Just the audio without effects. Anybody know why?

The reverb, delay, and master fx do not get recorded in a multi-track setup. Those are send fx and can only be recorded on the mix out track. I suggest setting up a reverb and a delay send in Ableton and send the desired tracks to them. You will get much better results and you can make adjustments. Recording the track with reverb or delay burned in can lead to issues in the mix down phase.

Unfortunately, the master fx are only on the mix out. You can record one track at a time through the mix out to get the fx. Mote tedious, but effective.

@@UnitE808 wow that's super strange....I was hoping to "perform" with FX in a Multitrack setting (very organic sound to fade in and out the reverb etc.) I just set it up and I guess this is still not possible?! I just get the RAW Tracks without Reverb.... Big up to you and your tutorials !!

@@Taphani it will not be possible due to the hardware audio routing. Majority of hardware devices that multitrack do not include the send fx on individual track recordings. The fx in the DAW are superior and can be mixed in smoothly with a midi control.

Thanks for the vid! This was super helpful. Have you had any issues with delay and reverb not working when using this method though? My MFX seem to work fine, but I can't get any delay or reverb when using audio over usb in logic.

Sorry I think I answered my own question. Seems those effects are routed in the main mix out alone, so starting using tracks 1+2 then ascending seemed to do the trick. I guess a limitation of the 707. Awesome stuff though. Look forward to watching more of your videos.

@@ruckzuck951 This is how most hardware works. The reverb and delay are send effects that go out the mix out (1/2). The individual track effects still work on individual outs.

@KidBess it will not multi-track record, but you can record the stereo mix out. Set the driver to generic in your system settings of the 707

You need to select the Stereo Input 3+4, 5+6 ....and so on.... then go ahead and create 8 Tracks... Number 1 from the MC , you choose Input 3+4 in Ableton, Number 2 from MC , you choose Input 5+6 in Ableton .... and so on.... Make sure so set Monitor to IN !! Hope that helps

Hi Unit-E, Thank you for another great video! I set up the mc 707 with adobe audition but when recording the microphone that's plugged into the 707, the effects sre not captured on the recording. This is only true for the channel of the mic. Do you have any ideas how to solve this issue? Thank you so much!

Yes, but you will have to create an aggregate device for the audio/midi on your Mac. A video on that is coming soon, but there are others out there that show how to set that up too.

Yes, this is possible. Just select the channel in the mixer section of FL studio and click the plus button to add a source. choose one of the inputs of the MC 707 shown when plugged in through USB. Each channel is the same as it is in this video here

@@UnitE808 great, it worked but now I have another question, I have on my mc707 a trs8 with midi connected and in my mixer at fruty loops I have all the channel from the mc707 but only one external (ext in) were all my sounds from the trs8 is coming from. How I can make the same what I did with the mc707 with my trs8? I dont want to have all trd8 sounds on one chanmel in my daw. Please help and thank you for your answer 🤘

@@holeyfoley1496 you can’t run multiple usb audio interfaces at the same time with Windows without using ASIO4ALL, which is not very reliable. For now, you will have to unplug the 707 usb from the computer and put the 8S usb into the computer, enter the utility menu and scroll to USB Audio and change it from ASGN to INDV. Then set up your channels do something similar as the 707. The reverb and delay and master fx on the 8S will only be recorded through the mix out channels (1&2) through usb. Individual instruments will not have them. This is normal. Set up a reverb and a delay sends in FLStudio and send the instruments to them.

I was so proud that my mc707 was connected to my trs8 and when I press the start button of the mc my trs was also starting. So if I want to have both together I must have 2 record Sessions in my daw? That sounds like an adventure? 👀

Should I buy the MC 707 or wait for a new drum machine. How soon do you guys think before Roland will release a new drum machine with updated features. Is there a chance they’ll update the Mc 707 to work with their WC-1 adapter.

All great questions. A new drum machine would not compete with the 707. It's a full synth and drum machine and looper. There is a chance that they could get it to work with the WC-1.

Other then the sp 404 roland never does mk2 versions, so any new product wont impinge on previous ones, especially ‘new roland’ s business model is very obviously based on this

How do you deal with the timing, just trying logic out and every time I record my gear, say at 130 bpm on logic and same in mc707 though mx1 the audio is out of sink with the grid, I used Ableton before and did not have this problem? Maybe I’m doing something wrong?

It all depends on your routing. Latency is introduced and needs to be compensated for. Is it recording properly onto the grid?

@@UnitE808 thanks for getting back, it only seem to happen in logic and find getting the audio back in time a little awkward, I’m just getting back into music after a long break so trying out Daw to find what best for me, I like logic however this is putting me off as I’ve tried the same thing in both Ableton and Bitwig without any problems…. Hit record and it locked on! Maybe I’m just missing something.

It is absolutely possible. Make sure the driver is installed on your computer for the 707, open Live, set the 707 as your audio interface in Live.

Hi, I just set everything up as you instructed and when I play back the recording (I just tried it with a kick) the recording is distorted although the volume on the logic channel is not hot. Also, I loaded an eq on the channel but there was no signal going through it. Any ideas?

Without knowing the tweaks done on the 707, it's hard to tell why it's distorting. When you were doing the actual recording, was it distorted? When you say no signal when you loaded an eq, did you have a signal and then it disappeared when the eq was added?

Ahh! I’ve just worked it out. I reset up a new template but chose mc 707 as input and my soundcard as output and everything seems to work. Thanks again for this tutorial

@@thearx1 swing function on the 707? Yes, it's a clip option. Highlight a clip, press shift+the clip button. Adjust the shuffle option

Hi using Logic Pro on a 2012 MacBook Pro 16GB i7… running Catalina . I have followed your video instructions .. the 707 after a few seconds hangs and the drum track just goes silent and then all tracks don’t input into Logic Pro .. is the 2012 MacBook too old to interface with MC707 ? Cheers

Do you have the proper Catalina Driver installed on your laptop? Was it installed with the 707 disconnected from the computer?

@@UnitE808 Hi thanks for quick response , yes the correct driver is installed , but not sure if MC707 was disconnected when I recently reinstalled driver .. so will try again … I am literally right now about to connect MC707output to a recently acquired Zoom R16 .. whist this is only stereo output from 707 .. I can still build a multitrack one way or another if MC707 doesn’t like the MacBook Pro mid 2012? Really like the idea on your video.. hey I am 57 and the combinations and possibilities of music making in the bedroom in 2022 is still like magic to someone who wrote his first tunes with a Tascam 4 track portastudio . The brain gets slower , but it is great fun to try and figure things out .. I appreciate channels such as yours greatly . Will get back to update soon… cheers

Hi just an update .. your advice works 100 per cent with my other card computer ( a 2014 MacBook Air ) . But despite reinstalling driver correct on MacBook Pro mid 2012 .. it just hangs the MC707 after a few seconds . Air unfortunately has only 4GB as opposed to Macbook 16 GB. I can audio out Air to my Zoom R16 after mixing or alternatively save project to cloud on Air and export to Macbook . Just a side note how brilliant is sampling.? Have just sampled David Bowie on MC707 .. then assigned 20 sec of moonage daydream .. onto the sixteenth notes of a drum pattern . Instant never heard of instrument . That would be science fiction even to ziggy stardust in 1972

Hi UNit E : No it’s the 4GB air that works fine .. but. the upgraded 16GB 2012 Catalina pro that refuses to work properly. Otherwise Logic runs on MacBook Pro ok and will accept a wavestate and a stereo input from 707 via USB and allow 707 to control the software instruments inside Logic . It appears like it’s just the multi track option you presented causes issues . I am running Catalina with the lady compatible version of logic . I wonder if your video only works properly on Big Sur and Monterey. Cheers
