Very informative video - thanks. My MX-1 arrived last week and you've already helped me to circumnavigate Roland"s appalling manuals....
@BeardslapRadio9 жыл бұрын
djmap01 Thanks, yeah - the manual is pretty terrible. I'm also not a fan of the current trend of just making it one huge piece of paper. I want a book, with an index and reference section! Roland have actually just put out a new vid with some tips for the MX-1, you might find that useful as well. kzbin.info/www/bejne/pHbOh2N5o7CYnq8

Thanks - I watched that video earlier this morning. They called it a tutorial but its not for actual users - it's a glossy video to entice potential purchasers like you & me.......

Nice video. BTW: You can change BFX filter types, side chain types and slicer types by holding that button and turning the left hand encoder.

I enjoy the video, did you do a video on showing how you have everything connected???

always good to get an end users take and not a polished manufacturer review and only the good stuff,. Nice 1

Great video man very informative, cheers! I really like the look of this. It looks a lot of fun and I already have a TR-8 so the Aira port helps save the audio ins for other gear.

+Tim Dunwell (Cold Earth) Thanks, I appreciate it! I'm also going to be getting at least one of the Aira modular effects which will also pipe audio straight through USB which is pretty handy. What I'm really interested in though is the new JP-08, hopefully they'll be able to do the same.
@coldearth30709 жыл бұрын
Haha yeah I'm looking at the JP-08 too :) Just wish I had more money to spend on music tech! Do you know if it works with the MX-1 as its 44.1kHz rather than 96kHz like the Aira gear?
@BeardslapRadio9 жыл бұрын
+Tim Dunwell (Cold Earth) I haven't seen any confirmation yet, but I'm keeping my eyes peeled for info, if it doesn't it might be a deal breaker.
@coldearth30709 жыл бұрын
I think it would be crazy for them not to it just seems strange to make them different to the Aira gear unless it was to keep cost down. Just a shame they didn't add more audio ins on the mx-1 or swap that digital in for a proper audio port seems as though a lot of stuff doesn't even use it. I've read that some people use the Send as an extra audio in channel on the MX-1 so that might be an option if your worried about losing audio ins.

Hi do you know if you can Midi Map the faders and mute button whist in Ableton Live mode? If the MX-1 is set to Ext > Ableton live mode but the track faders and their mute (disarm track) buttons do not correspond with my DAW. I have updated the MX-1 to v1.05 but the solo, sends, record, solo and play button only seems to work. thanks

This rig looks fun man, but I had a bit of a hard time not focusing on the "ums". Sorry bro, I do it to. I know it's normal for lots of KZbin videos but drives me nuts.

Would this mixer be suitable for recording all my synths? Or should I buy a analog mixer instead?
@BeardslapRadio8 жыл бұрын
Martijn de Geele honestly, it wouldn't be the greatest for recording, there can be a bit of noise and it only outputs stereo to USB. Have a look at the soundcraft signature mtk mixers, they might be better for you.

What’s the difference between this and a Soundcraft FX16ii mixer? New to producing and finally making the decision to get a mixer and an audio interface after. But I’m just stuck on the terms of connectivity, especially with plug ins/DAWs. Besides having 12 instruments/hardware I wouldn’t like to be switching cables back and forth to play one synth. Please help if can 🤕
@BeardslapRadio3 жыл бұрын
The MX-1 is more geared towards live performance than studio work. The Soundcraft would definitely be a better choice if you have a lot of hardware instruments you want to record into a DAW, but if you don’t have lots of instruments it might be better and cheaper to just go with a decent interface instead.

@BeardslapRadio9 жыл бұрын
tibiluk99 I wouldn't know where to begin - it'd probably take about 3 hours! Basic summary though - it's got a massively steep learning curve (probably not so bad if you've used other Elektron gear) but once you're over the hump it's an incredibly versatile and rewarding bit of kit.

for a first review its not terrible. maybe spend more time with something then a day if your going to review it, or at least have a grip on it.

You couldn't change the BFX and you don't understand numerous other things such as the master effects just because you didn't bother to get your teeth into this device before doing a review. I'd call this a bizarre way of reaching a verdict.

If you're going to make a review you should have the device for more than one day (your admission) before making your video, so that when you speak, you will not have to keep saying... dunno what that does. And then you won't end up making 28 minutes of 'um, erm, dunno, yep'. Which is the antipothy of a review.
@creatorsremose8 жыл бұрын
Next time, try scripting your review... less "uhm"s and "uhh"s and those horrible awkward pauses, would also feel like you actually know what you're talking about. Thanks.
